Chapter Eleven
Light and heat were the first things that crossed Nuka's mind as he groggily stretched, eyes still pressed shut. The familiar dry, unbearable heat, nothing at all like the lush, cool breeze he enjoyed as a cub in the Pridelands. Light, a dusty light. He pried his eyes open. Vitani lay across from him, sleeping. Now in her late teens, she rolled over, yawning. Shaking her head free of sleep, she quickly sat up, glaring at Nuka. "What're you looking at, Nuka," she demanded. Nuka chuckled, watching her simmer. "Oh, nothing Vitani. Its nothing," He said, stretching. He got up and started to walk out. "Although," He added, turning his head to her as he walked, "You could tell me who this Kopa fellow you talk about in your sleep is." He smirked and walked out of the den, leaving a wide eyed Vitani in his wake. "Talking in my sleep..." she whispered. She fell back, wondering what all Nuka might have heard.

Nuka smirked as he made his way to Zira. He would outdo himself with this one. Vitani and Kovu could only wish that they were him. Zira, in all of her glory, was laying on a large rock, enjoying a sunbath. "Mother," Nuka called in a singsong voice, "I've got something to report!" Zira looked down at him. "what is it this time, Nuka." She responded, rolling over. Nuka sat down, a large grin on his face. "It seems," he said, "That Simba's daughter's first hunt is comming soon. She is of ample age, and not too bright."
Zira's eyes lit up. "This is good,"she said, almost purring, "This is very good. Well done, Nuka. Perhaps you'll actually amount to something more than a worthless son after all." Nuka's eyes glowed with pride. [b]"Perhaps I could kill her while she hunts?" Zira shook her head. "No," She said. "I've a plan that involves Kovu." Nuka, now intrigued, cocked his head. "Do I get to help?"
"Your role will be vital to the sucess of the plan," Zira said. She stood up, and nuka looked around himself. Many lionesses were around him, encircling the rock. To his left stood Kovu, proud and tall. On his right, Vitani, fearfully leaning on Nuka. He rolled his eyes, but adjusted himself so her head rested on his side. He briefly focused on her rythems. She was shivering Violently. Zir smirked. "Nuka, Vitani." She said. The pair stepped forward. In unison, they said, "Yes, Mother."
"You two are to go the the elephant graveyard. Your charge is gathering drywood and lighting them on fire from the melting pots there. Once lit, you will go not far from where Kiara is hunting and light a fire. Then, it is all up to Kovu, who knows what he is to do." Nuka and Vitani nodded. [b]"It will be done, mother," they said, stepping back into the ring. "Now," Zira said. "Leave me in peace." With that, the circle broke up.
