Okay, here is my thoughts on the movie:

I actually quite liked this movie. To begin with, I liked the story, but it could have been more coherent. Later into the movie, we have the mother/daughter drama, and the side-story with the suitors, and while they are connected, it kept switching back and forth with each narrative until they were meshed together at the end. I very much enjoyed the plot twist with Mor'du, which I felt gave the story some surprising, unexpected depth. However, I was also expecting this movie to be a little more epic and have a "save the kingdom" feel to it, but when the conflict was just to get Merida's mother transformed back into a human, I was somewhat disappointed. On a final note, the story was very similar to The Little Mermaid, Mulan, and Brother Bear, and the ending was just predictable to me.

The animation was just incredible, and richfully beautiful.

The characters kind of felt like cardboard cut-outs from the typical Disney fairy tale movies with a rebellious Disney princess and the conservative parent who is bound by tradition. However, that doesn't mean, they are poorly developed characters; Merida was a very strong character with a focused goal to achieve, and I very much liked her tomboy attitude. At the end, she and Queen Elinor grew a little more when they understood each other at the end.

The music by Patrick Doyle was great, and added more of the Celtic/Scottish atmosphere to the story.

Overall, this movie was very good, and although it may not be up to par with Pixar's earlier masterpieces, it's an improvement from last year's Cars 2. The story could have more well-balanced, but it makes up for that with the plot twist, and its heart-warming message. Of course, Pixar does no wrong with the characters, animation, and music. This movie is an 8/10.

Story: meh

Animation: meh

Epicness: barely qualifies as meh

Predictability: too high

Lasting appeal: minimal, if existent

Final thoughts: not anywhere near as good as TLK, but on par with SP

Actually, I take that back. At least SP had Zira.

I went to see the English version of Brave at the cinema, and picked up the DVD yesterday (I`ll save it for a birthday present for myself) I even bought a couple of Brave books (the essential guide, art of Brave)

I LOVED IT!!

Well done Pixar!

I was beyond ecstatic to see a Disney movie that focuses on the relationship between mother and daughter, something which is pretty much not done before ever. Not to mention the fact that Meridas father was also involved, and that she had siblings. I appreciated that the triplets were mute, it was a nice touch.
I just really, really love the fresh and original take on a Disney princess. The fact that romance was not part of the story was a huge relief, and although I certainly don`t mind when a princess spontanously bursts into song, it was nice that Merida never did. It would have broken with the overall fresh and new feel of the movie.

I didn`t start to cry at the end, though I did get choked up (the girl seated next to me cried) and I think I laughed the loudest of all when the old witch said "to hear this menu in Gaelic, please use the red vial" :P

The animation was amazing, so lush and beautiful, and the soundtrack was wonderful too!

Overall, I found this movie highly enjoyable and entertaining, very touching and visually stunning, packed with warmth and love.. Seeing the bond and the conflict between Eleanor and Merida was wonderful.

Brave definitly jumps up to the top amongst my favourite Disney movies.

Now that I have finally saw Brave after not seeing it for a long time, I kept an open mind. Overall, I thought it was decent. Not horrible, but not that great as others have claimed it to be. I'd give it a 7/10, but reminded me too much of other movies I've seen. I love the earlier Pixar films a lot more than Brave. ^^
