Romney was at a rally in Ohio today (somehow I found myself watching it on the news) and his wife made a pretty bold statement. She said that they were looking at the next president of the United States. She'd better hope that she's right about that or the press are going to have a field day! Of course...I hope that the press do end up having a field day, but there we go.

Oh believe me I want to reply. I just have a pact with DGF that I won't talk American politics anymore.
I was about to ask you why the hell you posted in this again, seeing as you have no clue how our system works. (I was talking to him on Skype and he made an utter fool of himself when I asked him the simple question of how the US system works).
Normally I stay formal in every discussion or debate because I just don't see the point of using vulgar language. This however, pisses me off. So: [censored] you douche bag! I can form an opinion however I like. I thought I was an arrogant asshole, apparently I'm not the ultimatum.

Run, run while you can from the evil socialist.

Thank you.

Jesus Christ, respect needs to be taught.

Yes, you can form an opinion. It's just that you made it very obvious to me that your opinion is formed based on sources no better than the tabloid headlines. Which is why I keep saying that you don't know how the US system works, because you don't. So when you come here and start preaching to everyone how the Netherlands are the best place in the world, and the US is the worst, I have to keep telling myself that it's because you don't know any better.
So you don't believe it's ironic that someone who stands on the stump bellowing about lowering taxes across the board actually plans to, essentially, raise taxes?
Not really. Politicians have stating they will do this and that while campaigning, but when in office, they do something else entirely. Now concerning taxes, both Presidents Reagan, H.W. Bush, and Clinton campaigned to not raise taxes, but raised taxes during office. Romney, if elected, will be no exception.

This is 100% true. While campaigning, politicians only say what they are told will get them more votes. The only way you can judge a politician is what they do once they are in office.

You're by far not the greatest nation on Earth. Deal with it. And I dare to say my country cares better for its people. And so does the UK and Germany and Belgium and all of Scandinavia. Especially Scandinavia, that part of the world is paradise.

For it's people being the key phrase. There is a reason why I don't tell you how the Netherlands should run itself - because I don't know enough. Apparently, this lack of knowledge doesn't stop you from telling me how I should live my life.

Remember that the US was formed by people who had enough of the place they came from. And still today, many people come here because they don't like old-world attitudes. So maybe your system works wonderfully where you live, and according to you, it does.

But over here, it falls flat on it's face, so for god's sake, stop trying to impose it on us, especially when you yourself already admitted that here in the US, it will be even worse than what we have now.

Only if you make the assumption that it is the government's responsibility to provide everything for everyone. You're entitled to your opinion, but I find it ironic how much you preach respect only to turn around and be a complete rear end to anyone who doesn't agree with you. Just like you think that the Netherlands doesn't need to become more like the US, many if not most people in the US don't want to become a clone of Europe. There's nothing wrong with that.
Come death. Come suffering. I will not live in fear. In this fleeting life where time escapes us, the path of least resistance is a slow quiet death. I'd rather burn out than fade away.

I argue and debate in a respectful way (except religion, no respect from my side on that). Debating everything I do not agree with is not a form of disrespect. It pisses me off that people think namecalling makes them superior. And you can be as much non-europe as you like, but before you do that, ask the poor... Freedom should not include the freedom to starve or live on the street. Help the people, all of them. And as long as there are families without a home, education or any other basic needs, there is something wrong with that. Every human deserves a decent life.

A government for the people. Not a people for the government.

If you deny that everyone in the US deserves a decent life. You're not a society. A society is united, not divided. A society works for each other, not for himself. A society helps the poor and treats the sick, not reject them.

We must stop thinking about the individual and start focussing on society.

I think this society suffers so much from too much freedom, too many rights that allow too many people to be too irresponsible. And that is in one sentence what I think. Call me a fool, not an argument. Call me a European, not an argument. Do I have a different worldview? Sure. Does that mean I should shut up? Nope. Remember, free speech? That thing you want so much, so extreme that it should include hatespeech.
