I can already see Romney getting a hart attack out of frustration when he doesn't get elected, after everything he's been through to get that high. lol

Romney was at a rally in Ohio today (somehow I found myself watching it on the news) and his wife made a pretty bold statement. She said that they were looking at the next president of the United States. She'd better hope that she's right about that or the press are going to have a field day! Of course...I hope that the press do end up having a field day, but there we go.

Yes, you can form an opinion. It's just that you made it very obvious to me that your opinion is formed based on sources no better than the tabloid headlines. Which is why I keep saying that you don't know how the US system works, because you don't. So when you come here and start preaching to everyone how the Netherlands are the best place in the world, and the US is the worst, I have to keep telling myself that it's because you don't know any better.

Not really. Politicians have stating they will do this and that while campaigning, but when in office, they do something else entirely. Now concerning taxes, both Presidents Reagan, H.W. Bush, and Clinton campaigned to not raise taxes, but raised taxes during office. Romney, if elected, will be no exception.

This is 100% true. While campaigning, politicians only say what they are told will get them more votes. The only way you can judge a politician is what they do once they are in office.

For it's people being the key phrase. There is a reason why I don't tell you how the Netherlands should run itself - because I don't know enough. Apparently, this lack of knowledge doesn't stop you from telling me how I should live my life.

Remember that the US was formed by people who had enough of the place they came from. And still today, many people come here because they don't like old-world attitudes. So maybe your system works wonderfully where you live, and according to you, it does.

But over here, it falls flat on it's face, so for god's sake, stop trying to impose it on us, especially when you yourself already admitted that here in the US, it will be even worse than what we have now.

Only if you make the assumption that it is the government's responsibility to provide everything for everyone. You're entitled to your opinion, but I find it ironic how much you preach respect only to turn around and be a complete rear end to anyone who doesn't agree with you. Just like you think that the Netherlands doesn't need to become more like the US, many if not most people in the US don't want to become a clone of Europe. There's nothing wrong with that.
Come death. Come suffering. I will not live in fear. In this fleeting life where time escapes us, the path of least resistance is a slow quiet death. I'd rather burn out than fade away.

I think it's fair. Ironically, we're the country imposing our capitalist democratic beliefs on the rest of the world. Because, you know, we need to preserve freedom and fight wars on terror and such. Any other way of life is clearly wrong and doesn't work at all, and the rest of the world needs to be cleansed from their crazy socialist beliefs. The world must be made safe for democracy McDonald's.

At least I don't have the illusion that I'm not imposing it on others. :P

Do I agree with everything our government it doing? Of course not! Do I still support it? Currently, barely. Will I support it more if it will do more of what I think is the right thing> Of course I will. But I won't walk around and tell people "In order for all of us to be united and equal, we need to separate all ethnic groups and classes away from each other (because intermixing will always cause crime) and stay away from each other. Only then will we be able to have a just society where everyone are free to do as they please."
