In a normal pride there are usually 2 male lions that rule it, either brothers or cousins. They usually are not around the females, unless they are needed to protect them, mate with them, or eat. When Male lions come in to take over a pride they kill all of the cubs. I think that TLK is actually pretty good compared to real life. Their isn't sexism in it at all. Yes Simba becomes King, but Kiara will become the Queen.
and how is it racist at all???

The Lion King, as far as lions go, only keeps general knowledge of how pride works, but for the most part, ditches the real system in favor of a human one. Remember that the Pride Lands are a kingdom, and not simply a pride's territory. And the only known kingdoms were human ones.

So when Disney wants to make Mufasa act 'kingly', they can't go to a pride and see how a lion behaves. They go to the history books to see how human kings acted, and apply that to a pride of lions.

As for racism: Mufasa and Sarabi, both major good characters, are both voiced by black actors. Remind me again how that's racist?

This. BlackCat already made the same points ages ago and did so in immeasurably more detail and had a pretty lengthy discussion on it already... If everyone made the same thread twice, I mean is it any wonder that people do not seem to visit the TLK areas of this board as much? lol

I have actually seen criticism that James Earl Jones doesn't count because he is an "Oreo".

If James Earl Jones doesn't count as black because he is half white, does that then make it so that Obama isn't our first black president? No. they have African heritage in their bloodlines, and if we want to look at it, we all do. If you believe in God or not, we all still came from Africa. So saying being racist makes no sense because you end up putting down yourself.

It says it's racist because the cast of the hyenas is rejected and not considered to be intelligent and dumb.
But I don't get it :? .

I think that the realisator didn't thought at all about that, and just wanted to make an animated movie with universal values. I think that in the end, the racism and the sexism are accuring under Scar's reign, to parody this and things such as dictatorships, so one of morals would be: sexism, racism and dictatoships are bad.
That's my opinion 8-)

Truthfully I didn't see any sexism and definitely no racism during Scar's reign. Granted Scar wanted the lionesses to do the hunting, but that is what lionesses do in real life, so I can't see that as an example of sexism. It's just adding a touch of realism to the story.

I think it's just a few people pushing a few buttons just to get some publicity, even if it's bad publicity, just to get some money. I doubt that most people who claimed that TLK was racist or sexist or whatever actually believed it. But if they can get a few bucks out of creating controversy...
