Using previous memberHQ threads system

Hi! Welcome to the Feedback forum.
Before reading anything or asking anything; please check out the FAQs. Your question might be in there. However if you want a better understanding after reading the FAQs, like if it didn't explain it good enough, then by all means ask your question.

Please read the following before posting in this forum...

In this forum you will see an Announcement, and several "sticky" topics. The announcement is the Universal Board Rules. If you are new, read this before doing anything else! The sticky topics will stay above and separated from normal user-made topics in the forum. This is because they outline important information about the board. If you see a sticky topic concerning your issue, please reply with your question or concern in the correct topic. Moderators will see your reply within these topics. Before asking your question, be sure to read the topic and its first page especially. It contains information about your issue that is valuable and may even answer your questions. If the topic does not answer your question, ask your question within the topic, not the forum. If no sticky topic concerns your issue, then you are welcome to ask your own questions by creating a new topic within the forum.

Thank you for keeping the Board Help forum organized!

I don't like the idea of such an event. Yes we should encourage members to post in the Lion King areas, but strict rules are nothing but a turn off and will cause members to not join let alone leave. We should value a free friendly environment not one of strict rules and regulations. With that being said its hard for me even to agree to a post limit in order to post in other sections, but I really believe that it would be a step in the wrong direction. What looks good on paper doesn't always come out the way it seems.

30 Posts and 30 Days seems reasonable but more than that may cause results undesirable, but what do I know you guys seem set on making strict rules.

If a member cannot make 10 posts on the subject of TLK, that person probably shouldn't be here. This is a website dedicated to TLK, and 10 posts is nothing.

There is no reason for a new member to be able to create their own OT threads right away. There are other websites dedicated to other specific topics which would be far more useful to that person.

After having 10 posts, new members will be able to post in the chat and Q&A threads of others, but not create their own. We all know the 'what are you doing right now' and 'what are you thinking right now' threads are already the mane events, so it really isn't the end of the world. I didn't create my own Q&A thread until I had been a member for several months, and I still don't have my own chat thread, because I don't need one.

Personally, I have nothing against locking spam threads. But, apparently, almost everyone else is bothered by it, so this is a solution to that problem, without any serious consequences.

Not really, the current system is fine as is. If we revert back to the ok system the same problems will arise that caused us to change in the first place. And making users achieve a certain amount of posts or prestige isn't going to stop them spamming in order to get to the member hq requirements.

Also; you are making a mountain out of a molehill. I can't take any the posts here seriously because it's not a serious subject but my opinion is that we changed it for a reason and I see just as much spam in there from old members as I do new members anyway but so what, it's only a post. Live and let live; don't want to see it then don't go there.

Edit - the trade off is it worth it, yes there is spam there and everything you guys have said is true, there IS a problem. But I used the member hq to talk to raycat which included planning to meet her IRL. And that's my point; the member he is such an important part of the forum now that I don't think we should make any changes to it at this point

SCHD I don't want a list of people who you believe agrees with this. Let them speak for themselves.

These people:
And about having to have a certain number of posts before going to member HQ... idk about that. On one hand, getting the TLK sections active again would be nice, but on the other, forcing newer members to post in TLK areas might not be the best approach.
She feels the same way I do.

He seems willing to compromise though which I admire.

Personally, I don't think this is a good idea. This is a friendly forum, with relaxed members and that is how it should be. Friendly atmosphere is what keeps members here. More strict rules would only tear it apart. It's simple. No one likes to spend its time on a forum he doesn't feel comfortable on.

Not to mention that this might lead to another problem: new members might (in order to get a privilege to post in OT sections) start spamming in LK related forums, which is much worse.
