Your prediction on the future of the human race

Okay, well, if we are where we are, why argue about our instincts if they're irrelevant and obsolete? What does that have to do with the future of humanity?

Uhh... yes.

I've never opened up a history book and found any information on two groups of humans working together, unless there is a common interest.

What do we learn in history? That people loved to kill each other.

By what are you basing this?

I guess you also believe humans are good by nature and born as a good person? What utopia do you think we live in?

That is based on the evolutionary history of the human. A long time ago we were basically raping every female we could find, as morality developed (because of our intelligence) so did love. Meaning it is created by the brain, not the genes.
With evolution being you basis Woeler you must understand you contradict yourself. What you believe as intelligence that causes this may very well be evolution itself. Perhaps it is evolution that is bringing people to love one another rather than rape?

So you are saying that you absolutely hate everyone you have ever met other than your family? Friendship in that sense is non existent. Keep in mind Regulus that History books only covers governmental actions not necessarily the will of it's people.

Keep in mind the title of this thread. This is about humanity as a whole, not on an individual basis. Also, when I said relatives, I did not specifically mean family members. I mean relationships in general, including friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, etc.

If we're talking about human nature, then humanity as a whole is a network of those small relationships. Atrocities are generally the work of a corrupted few, not evil masses.

Not terribly relevant to the state of humanity presently, is it?

Okay, Woeler, you're actually wrong. Love is not caused by intelligence or morals.

Morals are caused by intelligence, because that is logical. If something is right or wrong, all you have to do is ask yourself if you would be okay if you were on the receiving end of the action. It's nothing but a product of pure logic.

Love is an emotion, caused by the need to reproduce. It actually defies both logic and morals.

Let's just think about a hypothetical situation for a minute. Suppose you live in an apartment, and there's a fire. Before evacuating, you have the option to save, say, 10 people on the floor below. Would you?

Now, suppose your significant other is on the floor above. Assuming you don't have the time to save everyone, which would you choose? One special person, or 10 people you hardly know?

Love isn't actually a good thing. It gets in the way of what we should strive to achieve just as much as hatred does.

Intelligence is a product of evolution and morals are a byproduct of intelligence. The two are unrelated. Evolution does not care for rape or love. Evolution cares for survival and as much offspring as you can get. However, our intelligence has enabled even the weakest of our species (who would normally die due to the concept of "survival of the fittest") to survive.

Just because rape sounds aweful doesnt mean it CANT be human nature. Because in the very basics it is, and that is fact. Love is caused by the mix of intelligence and morals! And those two were both absent in the beginning

Perhaps you a blind to the fact that you could be wrong. Have you thought that intelligence in itself is a product of our genes? When I see you post you continually go back to the very beginning. If we have acquired this intelligence than you must also see that what you try to say is human nature is no longer human nature. When man began to love and hate with balance than all this you try to say as human nature is lost.

Oh I just love humanity,
The hundreds of thousands that died in Iraq, the thousands that died in the WTC, the thousands lf civilians killed in Afghanistan, the oppression of millions in North Korea, the resource hungy governments in Russia and the US, The crisis in Europe, The middle eastern countries which are now destroyed due to its own revolutions.

And even IF it is only a small group of leaders, we, humanity blindly follow them, which makes us equally stupid.

What a bright future indeed.
Fear is what holds most of humanity from realizing the situation they are in. They fear that if they stand against injustice and lies than they shall lose their life or worse they ones they love. What it takes is humanity to realize what their governments are doing wrong and fix it. Not sit and complain about humanity, but do something about it.

Nope. It is natural to spend the rest of your life with one person, at least for us humans. Why? Because it takes us so ridiculously long before we become adults, capable of living on our own. It is natural to want to spend the rest of your life with one person, or else we'd be extinct by now. The woman takes care of the baby, while the man goes out to hunt (usually with a group of tribe-mates) and, hopefully, bring back food. Any other way, and the chances of the child surviving in the caveman era are slim to none.
