Love, in general, isn't in our genes. By nature, we're only supposed to love relatives, and hate everyone else.
By what are you basing this?
I guess you also believe humans are good by nature and born as a good person? What utopia do you think we live in?

That is based on the evolutionary history of the human. A long time ago we were basically raping every female we could find, as morality developed (because of our intelligence) so did love. Meaning it is created by the brain, not the genes.

So is it true in everyone's experience that we hate all non-family members?

Gosh, is it true in everyone's personal experiences that all humans are base, greedy bastards who care only for themselves? If so, you guys need to move to a new town, because I love a lot of the people in my life, and I really can't think of anyone I know that I consider to be an evil person.

There is a differences between genetic programming of origin and the intelligent state we are in now. How we act now is a result of intelligence overruling basic instincts. You are trying to make it look silly by comparing apples and pears.

By nature means by genetic probramming, that doesnt mean that we act like it, it does mean that we were designed like it.

Our basics are no different than those of other mamals on this planet.

Okay, well, if we are where we are, why argue about our instincts if they're irrelevant and obsolete? What does that have to do with the future of humanity?

Uhh... yes.

I've never opened up a history book and found any information on two groups of humans working together, unless there is a common interest.

What do we learn in history? That people loved to kill each other.

Because some factors *cough* politics mostly in combination with religion *cough* seem to have the ability to re-activate those instincts.

What you believe as intelligence that causes this may very well be evolution itself. Perhaps it is evolution that is bringing people to love one another rather than rape?

Friendship in that sense is non existent. Keep in mind Regulus that History books only covers governmental actions not necessarily the will of it's people.

Keep in mind the title of this thread. This is about humanity as a whole, not on an individual basis. Also, when I said relatives, I did not specifically mean family members. I mean relationships in general, including friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, etc.
