Simple biology and evolution gave me two excellent eyes, and those eyes don't see hate around here, So I don't know what you are talking about...

What is with the random poems in-between people trying to have a discussion, it's actually really throwing off the topic, and not helping your cause at all.

Honestly, I think it's a bad idea, and is just going to add another needless thing to the forum, but if you want to make it, just make it, instead of making a poll that's going to run for a month, that not many people are going to agree with throughout that time. You can make a topic for it, but honestly, I don't really see there being much room for poetry on here. The fanfiction area itself barely gets attention, and not many people these days use poetry as a form of expressing themselves. At least not as much as you would see people expressing themselves through fanfiction, which is one of the things this site was like, you know, made for. If you want to post your poetry there are sections for you to do that in, and you don't really need a contest to do it.

But it's your choice.

I don't get why the only reason I am seeing for a "no" is that they don't think there will be competitors. If there are no competitors then the contest dies. Saying that you don't think there will be competitors is fine, but it has no basis to say against the idea. There is no risk of loss, and therefore no reason to denote the idea and not give it a chance. Saying it would be a waste of time really isn't plausible, because unless you actually have the contest you will never know if it will be a waste of time or not. This is not attacking anyone it is just simply pointing out that I haven't heard a good reason for not having the contest. A contest simply puts the contenders work out there and makes it to where they are made to do your best, because of the competition. I see it as a very good way to improve their writing skills.

The reason it could be bad that there aren't competitors, and why it's a big deal if it just so happens to die, is that not only would they of put all the hard work in trying to run the contest, but in the end it would just become spam, which MLK is already covered in to the point to where the mods can't even really fix it, anytime we try to. It would just be adding another topic onto that mess.

There are like uhm, mod things you can do like. Ban the spammers, delete the spam, or just say no to this...There is no spam that is somehow magically protected from mod actions.

I don't see why this is a big deal. If people wanna have a poetry contest, let them have a contest. I really fail to see the big deal? If people want to put effort in it with the risk that it fails, let them be.

I don't even enjoy reading your posts in general; let alone your poetry.
But knock yourself out and start the contest if you want to, if no one enters then the answer is no, if not then sure. Like Amy didn't ask people if they wanted a Disney graphics contet, just made it and it was popular so it kept running... See how that works?
