With me, it's also most likely a phase. But at the same time, it has been going on for a while now (nearing a year), so at this moment, I am still a fan. I am a little bit less interested in it at this moment, but that is simply because I don't have as much free time as I had before: My "job" is stealing all my time away from me, and for something that payed about 50 dollars... funny! But I like my job, it's fun, interesting, and it teaches me a lot. The fact that it's slowly paying me is just an added bonus.
Do I miss the lion king? Yes and no.
For one thing, The Lion King is so embedded into other aspects of my life, that when I will do something else, I will be doing something related to the lion king. In what ways? I play Battlefield 2142. When I first started playing it, I also discovered this website, and specifically, the theater section. Using that, I discovered "He Lives in You" and "Lea Halalea". I listened to those 2 songs on repeat while playing 2142, that now whenever I play it, except for special circumstances, I would listen to these two songs. I am also a flight sim fan, and when testing out a new plane that I liked, I discovered the song "Lala". Due to my hardware limitations, I needed to fly away from cities. So I chose Kilimanjaro International Airport as my "home-base", and it still is (I have yet to get an upgrade). Now whenever I fly there, I might listen to other songs, but in the end of the day, it only feels complete with Lala. These are the biggest ways that I can think of at the moment that The Lion King is embedded in a non lion related thing in my life.
I also read fan-fics and RPs, look at fan art, etc. These things keep the Lion King fresh, and for some reason, the Lion King fandom has a higher ratio of good quality pieces. Therefore I always have something to look forwards to that is new. Also, new things happen in my life that I relate the Lion King to. As an example, yesterday I went flying, and thought "How would the Lion King characters feel like during flight?". Things like these keep my interest up. Also, The Lion King provides me with a reliable respite after a hard day of school (I often come home late), unlike other things that require a much longer time investment to cool down (like video games or my "job").
Another thing that keeps my interest up is that I avoid the "line by line" topics like the plague. Why? Because I know (based on a few scenes I saw on the production lips) that I will inevitably find a scene in the movies that I mostly forgot about, and will see them as fresh when The Lion King comes out on Blue Ray.
However like I said before, I am at a valley (that might still be dropping) in my interest. Mainly due to time constraints, I find that I am somewhat less interested in the Lion King. I do miss with a great deal of nostalgia the days when The Lion King was almost my entire life (last summer). This was wen I was discovering something new and big almost every day. Because I have swept through so much, I can at most look forward to a steady trickle.
Will I give up on The Lion King? Most likely not. The easiest way for me to tell is that most of my phases last a few days to a few weeks. My Lion King phase is close to reaching its one year mark. And as I write this, I also realize that I can gauge my phase level by how many times I write "The Lion King" versus "TLK". So actually, considering that apart from this example, I haven't used "TLK", and only "The Lion King", I might actually be increasing my "phase strength" just by writing this. And also by looking at the length of this post. I haven't written this much on these forums in a long time. Well, apart from my RP, and I have only been signed up for a month. Still feels like a long time.
Oh, and uh, I am listening to Lala at this very moment, and marveling at its beauty.
