Mufasa's key line of "Remember who you are..." is a message to everyone watching the film, plain and simple. It's meant to remind us that no matter how bad things become, or how things change in our lives, we are still the same...and only we ourselves can change that...no-one else.
For me, these sort of 'messages' are part of what makes this film an absolute, timeless classic! The way they are part of the story of Simba, without distracting from the real story being presented, is amazing as well!

No matter what happens in our lives, we still are the same person deep down, even though we might forget this sometimes. ^^ As for the "you are my son and the one true king" part, I think that was only directed towards Simba. lol. ^^ Unless everyone is related to Mufasa, in which case, that would be AWESOME!!!Unless you're female, in which case, it would be AWKWARD!!! lol. ^^
