Remember who YOU are...

It reminds us all that despite the pain and uncertainty of life, we must look deep inside ourselves and discover the truth of who we are deep inside. For as it was well said in song: "If you lose yourself, your courage soon will follow, so be strong tonight, reember who you are..." - Sound the Bugle - Bryan Adams

Seriously though, I agree with KM. I think that they tried to give us a message through that quote, though I never realized 'till I became older lol.

The quote when said to Simba, is to provoke him to remember that he is the true king and must go back to Pride Rock to take up the position.
It is a well known fact that artists do like to give well being messages in their work, and to the viewer of this scene... Well KiarasMate summed it up on the first page to be honest.

It's like in Spirit. It just means to forget where you came from and not to lose yourself along the way.
Yeah, TLK presents several key messages and morals, which is why it works so well as a family movie! Not only is it entertaining, it teaches us some valuable life lessons.

Mufasa's key line of "Remember who you are..." is a message to everyone watching the film, plain and simple. It's meant to remind us that no matter how bad things become, or how things change in our lives, we are still the same...and only we ourselves can change that...no-one else.

For me, these sort of 'messages' are part of what makes this film an absolute, timeless classic! The way they are part of the story of Simba, without distracting from the real story being presented, is amazing as well!
I agree with AC 100%. There are no words to describe this movie except for EPIC and MOVING. The messages are so clear, and are put into the move so well, combined with the actual movie and the characters, makes an amazing film with life-long leassons. :)
Never forget who you truly are inside. No matter what happens in our lives, we still are the same person deep down, even though we might forget this sometimes. ^^ As for the "you are my son and the one true king" part, I think that was only directed towards Simba. lol. ^^ Unless everyone is related to Mufasa, in which case, that would be AWESOME!!! :) Unless you're female, in which case, it would be AWKWARD!!! lol. ^^
I think that Remember who you are is supposed to mean that when you're in a bad situation like Simba's, exiled - living with two maniacs, Mufasa's words probably meant that as long as you remember who you are, you can overcome that situation.

I have no idea what I just said :/
