A Change of Plans [PRIVATE: AC & The Whistlerify]

Sarabi nodded. "She must have stopped around the time you were born, so she could raise you, and just never got back into the habit, I guess."

----------

Both Tanga and Nala increased their pace to match Kali, remaining a very short distance behind her. Tanga just focused on keeping his energy usage as low as possible, while Nala tried to make sure she was out-doing Simba in the endurance test, wondering just how long all of them would go for.

----------

Now that she could see, with quick glances over her shoulder, that the others were well and truly settled in, Kali picked up the pace much more frequently, now setting them into a brisk jog. She was sure all of them would be able to hold this pace for a few minutes, but after that, she expected some of them, at the very least, to start tiring. Despite the moderate pace they were currently setting, the group had already completed roughly a quarter of a lap.

Simba was still runnig next to Nala, she might out-do him in a wrestle any day, they never competed in a run, so he intended to make it clear for her that she wasn't able to beat him at anything. As Kali brought up the pace even more, Simba easily keeping up. He remembered that at the day of the stampede he ran as fast as he could for a few minutes, probably because his life depended on it.

-

Marini brought up her pace, she knew that at some point they were going to fall behind Kali, and shewas going to use her fast running skills is she wanted to keep up at that point, but it was going to be dfficult keeping up with her

Kali decided to keep the pace settled for the time being, as they continued around the hill, and see how they held up at this pace for a while. Since this was their first run, she was not going to push them too hard just yet.

----------

A smile crept onto Tanga's muzzle as Kali picked up the pace, and he casually matched her. It seemed all those walks around Pride Rock, and around the den they had found in their exile, were starting to have a good purpose. Not only did they help clear his mind in the mornings, they also seemed to have given him a bit of endurance.

----------

Nala also kept up with Kali's pace, although she could tell it was getting tougher now, Kali had eased them into it, and now she was beginning to push them, and Nala knew this was the stage of the run that would make or break her challenge to Simba.

So far, Simba wasn't getting any tired, but so was Nala. And he didn't intend on letting her beat him.

-

For Uhuru, it was begginning to become harder and harder to keep up, but she didn't show it. She was going to keep up for as much as she could

Kali kept them going, looking back occasionally. At one point, a little over halfway around their first lap, she noticed Uhuru seemed to be struggling to keep the pace. She gave her daughter a warm smile to let her know she was free to pull back if she wanted, but kept her pace up...she was not going to go easy on any of them.

----------

As they neared the three-quarter point of their lap, Nala realised she was beginning to struggle. Her breathing was becoming heavier, and she was finding it harder and harder to keep up. She did not look at Simba, trying to hide her growing exhaustion, but she forced herself on...she was determined to beat him. She just hoped he was tiring, too.

----------

Tanga, meanwhile, was still going fairly well. He was not used to the faster pace, as so could feel his body beginning to protest the constant exertion. He still had plenty of energy left, though, so he did not show it, jogging on beside Marini, hoping she was coping fairly well, too.

Uhuru noticed her mother's smile, she wasn't stopping until she couldn't run anymore.

-

Simba's legs were beginnin to ache slightly, but he still found no problem in keeping up with Kali, even though it began getting harder.

-

Marino was beginning to get slightly tired, but she kept going anyway

As Kali brought them to the end of the first lap, she picked up the pace once more...her time of going easy on them was over. She was impressived that they had all made one lap on their first run, but now it was time to see just how much conditioning they all needed.

----------

Tanga wanted to protest as Kali picked up the pace at the start of the second lap, but kept his muzzle shut and did his best to keep up with her. His legs were beginning to ache badly, and he was a last beginning to tire out, but drove on with a fierce determination.

----------

By the end of the first lap, Nala was taking up Kali's advice, and pushing her body on long after she would have otherwise given up, her breathing heavy and her legs shaking from exhaustion. But as Kali picked up the pace once more, Nala had finally had enough.

"Alright!" she gasped to Simba as she started to back off. "You win!" With that declaration, she backed off completely, panting as she staggered over the where Busara was resting, watching them, before just collapsing on her side, letting the sweat her body had generated in the run start to cool her down as he panted heavily, trying to regain her breath, looking up at Busara. "Looks like...I have some work...to do...huh?"

----------

After one lap, Sarabi's older body was protesting, but her energy reserves were still fairly good, so she ploughed on, still managing to keep up with Kali's increasing pace. She saw Nala peel away first, but smiled at the young lioness' drive. She had made it through a whole lap, at a pace most lions could not keep up for very long. It seemed that all of them were moderately fit.

Simba smirked in an act of victory as Nala stopped running. Finally he seemed to be able to beat her at something. He then noticed Kali's time of going easy of them was over as she began running faster. He brought his pace up, but it was beginning to get difficult to keep up with her.

-

Busara was busy resting and watching the group. He smiled at the sight of Uhuru, who seemed to be keeping up with everyone despite her small size. He then looked at Nala, who was busy catching her breath. "You'll get better the more you train." he said, showing her that the reason Kali was doing this was to help them last longer in battle.

-

Uhuru now had to run in her full speed if she wanted to keep up, and it was getting harder and harder within every second.

Nala nodded at Busara's words, still catching her breath, as she watched the others continue off on the second, already a good distance away, although from this perspective she could see that most, if not all of the others were starting to wear out, which gave her some sense of relief, to know that she was not that far behind.

----------

As Kali yet again picked up the pace, forcing them to start running now to keep up, although it was not quite flat-out yet, Tanga knew he had reached the point where Kali said they should fight for just a little longer. His limbs felt like they were on fire, and he had a stitch in his side that felt like someone had driven a very large, very sharp claw into his side, and was twisting it with every stride.

But he fought on, deciding that, since they had already made progress in the second lap, he would try and make it as far around this lap as possible before quitting...once he did quit, he'd have to walk the rest of the lap anyway.

----------

Sarabi still kept stride with Kali, although she, too, knew she would not last much longer. She still had the energy to go the rest of the lap, but her body was not coping at all, her legs were hurting terribly by now. She decided to go for just a few more seconds, then finally slowed her pace back to a jog, and finally a steady walk, breathing heavily. She was walking awkwardly by now because of how sore the joints in her legs were as she turned around, heading back towards where Nala and Busara were still waiting.

Simba was still running, but he felt that if Kali began running any faster then he would most likely have to stop. Though he didn't feel like he was unable to run anymore, but it was defiantly hard now.

-

Marini took a few seconds to realize that Kali brought up her pace again. She managed to catch up, but the fact that she just forced herself to run so fast has almost completely tired her out completely.

-

Uhuru felt like she could go no more. Now that her mother sped up again, she was no longer able to keep up. Soon enough she won't be able to keep running
