*Reads first paragraph of most recent story*
Over-abundant use of physical descriptors, spelling mistakes that could have easily been amended with spell-check, no variation in sentence length, and (my least favourite (which I have been guilty of in the past btw)) PIERCING eyes, eh?

Approximately 80% of stories on FFn are this quality or lower, though. It's sad but it's definitely true. .__.
This is quite true. Still, I've read some good ones on FFn. It kind of depends on your favourite writing styles, IMO. I mean, these vary from reader to reader.

Yeah, there are some good ones. Depends on the author. Some have better story, plot, characterization, descriptions, etc. than others. And it does vary. But I'd venture to say that - especially now, on the rare occasion that I'm even on FFn and browsing through the TLK section - 90-95% of the fics simply don't catch my eye enough for me to even click on them. And even amongst those that do, many just turn out to be mediocre. It's really hard to find a good quality fic on there if you look at the most recent fics. You pretty much have to go through people's faves, or sort by reviews and such, to even have a chance of finding a collection of consistently decent-quality stuff. And even then, it isn't perfect, because there will still be mediocre or even flat-out bad fics that are popular.
Wish I was exaggerating, but that's often how I feel.

Of course, I don't browse all that often, anymore... maybe things have changed now.
