Likely because parents were never really bothered about violent games and as having older brothers they found a number of them back then, such as the original DOOM amongst others.

I've always more or less understood death due to my condition but it still upsets me when a family member dies. And yeh violence in games or movies never really affected me and still doesn't. I don't squirm or feel uncomfortable watching things like Thrones or TWD. The only thing that makes me uncomfortable are sex scenes tbh.
