[OOC: I wasn't saying it took long, I'm saying it is extremely detailed.]

Shwari smiled as she spoke her kind words. A purr rumbled in his throat as he looked into her eyes. "I'm glad that I'm that special ingredient." He said in a very loving tone. He wanted to at least nuzzle her right now, but he didn't want to infringe on their agreement of taking it slow. He remained where he was, just staring into her eyes. He just sat there, waiting for something to happen.

"Do you want to star watch tonight? My father and I used to just sit down and make pictures out of the stars. Even Husudu loved playing that game." Shwari said with a chuckle, at the nostalgic memories. The thoughts of his entire family just laying there and pointing out images made Shwari's grin grow wider. Perhaps one day, he'd do the same with a family he has with Zina, if that ever happened.

~ At the little den ~

Ayari chuckled as she said that he shouldn't be expecting to mate that night. He was laughing because that thought didn't cross his mind. The last thing he wanted was to have a cub, and die in battle or have Vitani miscarry it during battle. In that case even if they won, it would be traumatizing for his family. He affectionately nuzzled her as she spoke.

"Well, we could pretend Vitani, but next morning we'd wake up to war. Just like our cub days..." Ayari pointed out with a slight frown. "When it's over this time... I'm throwing in the towel. I don't want to fight anymore." Ayari said as he purred from the affection he was receiving from his lady.

When Vitani mentioned fun, Ayari scuffled his nose. Did she want to play tag or something? He didn't understand quite what it meant. "Yeah. Fun. What was fun to us before, probably isn't fun to us now Vitani." Ayari pointed out with a raised eyebrow as he nipped her neck gently. "Let's just sit here, and reminisce? Just... Fill in the potholes in each other's memories?" Ayari said with a smile. He knew it was probably boring to Vitani, but at least this way they could avoid their urges.

~ Heart of the pridelands ~

Husudu started to chuckle, and then burst out laughing. He shook his mane and slammed his paw to the ground.

"The reason I don't have a lady, is because I don't need or want one you fool. Perhaps you are so primitive that you bow to your instincts, but not me! I rely on instincts only in battle! Why are you without a mate? Can you answer me that? Talking down on me because you think you have the ability to hurt me on a mental level. Let me just remind you, I lost my mind a very long time ago. Still haven't been motivated to find it yet!" Husudu explained with a snarl as he stepped towards Xepher.

Husudu honestly did not care for having a mate, and honestly meant every word he just spoke to Xepher.

"Life of luxury? Hah! I take nothing and give nothing to that damn pride! I only help them because my 'bratty' brother is fond of that shaman. Though I'm a little glad I left your sad excuse of a rogue pride. None of you can fight, and you don't smell too good either. One last note, if I see you or any of your pride members on these lands I will tear your throats and hand you over to Maju." Husudu growled.

"Now run home, or i'll take you there in pieces."
Husudu warned.

Being reminded of the first night they had spent outside the main den together, although seeing how the circumstances were quite the opposite this time around, Zina nodded as she replied in an accepting voice.

”That sounds good to me Schwari. I guess there’s a first time for everything, seeing as I’ve never really done that myself.”

Looking into the grey furred male’s eyes, feeling her cheeks starting to heat up with every passing second that she stayed glued to his entrancing stare, Zina spoke up once more in a confused tone.

”So, erm, do we just lay down here or did you have a better spot in mind?”

==========

Unable to resist a small laugh from what Ayari had stated in regards to what they would find fun now that the two of them were grown up, Vitani wrapped her fore legs around Ayari’s neck, playfully dragging him down to the floor as she nuzzled him affectionately and responded in a thoughtful fashion.

”Well, being next to you is always fun Ayari and it was back then too, so you can’t really say that now, can you? The only difference is,” Vitani stated, lightly caressing her fore paws down the length of Ayari’s body before she resumed speaking. ”there’s just more of you to be close to now.”

Grinning happily at her old friend, Vitani shifted her body so that her back and head rested neatly against Ayari’s warm frame. Taking one of his large fore paws in between both of her smaller ones, lightly cupping her lover’s paw in a caring manner as she touched upon the subject that Ayari had suggested previously.

”If that’s what you want to do tonight Ayari, than that’s what we shall do. Just as long as it takes my mind off of what’s going on now, that’s all I want. Just to have a night of peace and relaxation with my Ayari.”

Purring quietly as she snuggled in closer to Ayari’s comforting embrace, Vitani’s mind seemed to rewind all the way back to the day she and Ayari had met, back when things were much different, yet strikingly still the same to their current situation in life. Reflecting on this thought for a moment, the former Outlander’s voice lowered to a loving whisper as she asked Ayari.

”How well do you remember the day we met Ayari? For me, it seems so long ago, yet it’s still as vivid in my mind as though it just happened yesterday or something. Is it the same for you?”

==========

Seeing that his words were clearly striking the wrong chords within Husudu, Xepher slowly started to retreat with each step that the unstable male in front of him took forward. Hearing Husudu’s threat and knowing that he was more than capable of staying true to his word, Xepher finally caved as he turned to take his leave. Not being the type however, to let anyone have the final word, the still confident male called back over his shoulder as he departed.

”Whatever helps you sleep at night Husudu. You just keep telling yourself that and maybe one day, you’ll actually believe it too. If that fairy tale ending that’s bouncing around in that hallow head of yours actually does come true and you and your supposed new pride do eliminate Maju and every last member of his horde, myself included, what does that leave you with? Your brother will have that snow white vixen of his but poor Brother Husudu will still be alone in the world. No place that wants him and no one who cares about him. You talk down upon Maju’s actions and what we do and you act like you’ve made a change for the better but pull your head out of your ass and take a good look at yourself. You’re still the same, just as low and pathetic as any one of us are. The only difference is, you’re on the opposing side now, which quite frankly, will be your own downfall, mark my words.”

Flashing Husudu one last intimidating stare, Xepher picked up the pace as he bounded off back towards The Elephant Graveyard, his last words ringing through the still night air as he departed.

”You have a good night now Husudu.”

"Better spot? Oh it's near the edge of pride rock. We'll be safer up there, and it has a much better view." Shwari said with a wide smile. He loved star watching with his father, and he hoped that Zina would enjoy it as much as he did. Shwari's father told him that not only did the stars provide entertainment for those living on the land, but they also predicted the future. Shwari really wanted to see if he could spot anything that would hint him on his future with Zina.

Shwari quickly made his way up pride rock, looking back to see if Zina was following every couple of steps. When they reached the top of pride rock, Shwari led Zina to the edge, and laid down square on his back, looking up at her face from below. "Gonna lie down or what?" Shwari asked as he tilted his head.

~ Vitani and Ayari ~

Ayari smiled as he took in her scent due to their close contact. "Yeah. How could I forget? It was one of the strangest first impressions I ever made. I was being so kind, and you took huge offense to that. I'd never seen a girl so in my face." Ayari said with a chuckle as he nipped her ear. "Not saying it was a bad thing though. You stood out, and that's what sort of drew me to you I guess." Ayari muttered quietly. He really enjoyed times like this.

When Ayari was traveling, he didn't like to think too deeply about his relationship with Vitani. It was so he didn't break down emotionally,or have any regrets for what he had done. Now that he was beside his old friend, and now lover, he couldn't help but remember their cubhood. It was filled with alot of anger, fear, hatred and revenge. It was also filled however with their own fun moments, like how they bothered Nuka on a constant basis.

[Yes, I think this would be a perfect segway into our flashback for Ayari and Vitani. ^^]

The blazing sun hung heavy in the sky, beating it’s relentless rays of both heat and light down upon the parched lands below. Sitting among the foreboding landscape, contrasted against the snarled branches of the dying trees and the distant figures of countless termite mounds, a lone lioness cub could be seen. Her frame was both muscular, yet toned and a bit on the scrawny side. Her piercing eyes and defined personality clearly apparent as she sat, grumbling to herself in a bothered tone of voice.

”Another boring day…

Picking herself up from where she was sitting, Vitani looked about the desolate surroundings, trying to find something of interest to pass the time. Her mother had instructed her to go and play while she took the liberty of caring for Vitani’s half brother Kovu, who had most recently been labeled as The Chosen One, whatever that meant, as Vitani herself could care less. Unlike most cubs however, the play that Zira had hinted towards, didn’t involve the usual affair as Vitani knew full well what was expected of her. Slowly walking along the dry path , her paws making light tapping noises from just how rough the landscape below her paws was, the indignant cub finally came across what she was looking for.

Bounding forward, Vitani’s little claws extended from her small fore paws as she let out a low growl and pounced upon her target. The sound of snapping limbs, followed by the muffled scuttles of paws scraping against the ground indicated that the little cub had found something to keep her occupied for a minute or two at least. Holding the end of a dying tree branch in her muzzle, Vitani’s claws scratched and tore at the charred bark of the tree as the young cub wrestled with her prey, her mother’s words of how no enemy should ever be spared, ringing in her ears as the duress that the branch was under finally came to a head and ended in a loud snap. Feeling the tension between her mouth and the branch in tow suddenly ceasing, Vitani found herself sailing backwards as her tiny frame tumbled and came to a most ungraceful looking stop a few paws length away from her defeated prey. Spitting out a maw full of branch and earth, the tough little cub picked herself up and looked proudly towards the fallen tree, her fur slightly painted with a thin layer of dirt from her rough landing. Caring not about this fact however, Vitani’s attention was quickly grabbed by the sounds of near by paw steps, causing the curious cub to look around for the source of the noise. Knowing that it wouldn’t be any of her own pride members, seeing as her nose couldn’t pick up any familiar scents, Vitani got on guard as she started to stalk towards the distant sounds, using what little cover that the barren environment provided for her.

Drawing closer to the source of the noise with every step she took, vitani’s eyes narrowed as she finally caught sight of just who was in her midst. It was a young looking lion cub, a male if she had to take a guess at it from the way his body looked and seeing as her stare fell upon his back side as she trailed him. Knowing that the chances that this cub could even begin to pose a threat towards her now were little to none, Vitani’s confidence level rose indefinitely as she prepped herself for an encounter with fate. Standing perfectly upright now, not even bothering to stalk her target, Vitani closed the remaining distance between herself and this new cub before she called out to him in a rather hostile tone.

”Hey you! What are you doing here in The Outlands?!”

A young Ayari made his way across the short grass of the pride lands. He looked curiously around at every little creature and detail to the lands. It all astounded him! He had never seen so much life in his old lands. Ayari's teal eyes glistened as he walked, wondering if there were any other cubs in the area that he could play with. There never was, and whenever there was they were taking away by their mothers because Ayari's infamous title of "rogue".

Ayari's mother and father were killed by a band of hyenas and he was the only one left alive. This was only because he outran the hyenas and hid inside a small crevice in a cliff wall. When the hyenas had left, Ayari had time to mourn but he decided it would not be best to stay there and cry forever. He began his journey from land to land to find a pride to join, or at least a lioness that would take him in as her own. He walked for many days with no progress. They called him such strange things like "dangerous", "vicious" and the word he hated hearing worst of all "rogue"

Ayari now noticed that the texture of the ground beneath him was changing. He tilted his head in confusion as he walked now, noticing there was little to no life in the area he was in now. He looked around for any signs of life and his ears drooped in disappointment. He continued walking in hopes of coming across new lands. The sun was scorching hot and making him extremely fatigued. He sat down for a moment to take a breather when he heard someone call for him. He quickly turned his head with an exhausted look on his face.

"Wh-What lands?"
Ayari asked with a look of plerpexity on his face.

Looking both bothered and amused by this new male’s lack of knowledge, Vitani’s muzzle adorned a smirk as she replied in a badgering voice.

”The OUTLANDS. What’s the matter, hard of hearing?”

Keeping her little claws extended, the feisty young Vitani circled around the unwary cub, examining his looks and the way he was reacting towards her presence, leading the bold cub to further her interrogation as she stated briskly.

”Are you a Pridelander?” Her eyes narrowing as the words left her muzzle, a clear hint of distain noticeable within her tone of voice.

Waiting for a reply, the antagonizing young lioness kept a vigilant eye upon her company, continuing to circle him, much like her mother had taught her to as she had told her that keeping a constant movement lessened the chance to be caught off guard by ones adversary.

"The o-outlands?" Ayari said as he saw a blurred image of the lioness circling him. He was seeing multiples. Ayari teetered slightly as he tried to stand up. He hadn't eaten or had a drink of water in days. It was extremely difficult for him to even stay standing.

"A what lander?" Ayari asked now, wondering if she was accusing him of being something bad. "I-I am a rogue." Ayari said bitterly, baring his teeth slightly and extending his claws. What he knew about rogues was they were very violent, and if he could portray that stereotype maybe he could get this mean cub to leave him alone.

Meanwhile walking through the outlands in search of his younger sister was Nuka. He stopped for a moment and bit his lip, scratching the side of his head roughly. "Damn termites!" Nuka growled as he scratched his head viciously. If it weren't for Vitani, perhaps he could be at home right now, in the cool den taking a nap, but no he had to take care of that bratty Vitani.

"I'd rather eat sand..." Nuka muttered angrily to himself as he followed the paw prints of his sister, while stopping to itch a part of himself every now and again.

Appearing pleasantly annoyed by this male’s attitude, watching as he took up a more offensive stance, Vitani’s character wasn’t altered in the least bit as she grinned mockingly towards him, replying in a sarcastic voice.

”Jeez, you really are stupid, huh? Don’t even know what a Pridelander is.”

Snickering in a disheartening fashion, Vitani kept up both her verbal and psychological assault upon the lone male, changing her direction so that she now circled him in a counterclockwise manner.

”Am I supposed to be afraid of you or something?”

Showing no signs of intimidation, Vitani crouched down, a look of determination present within her expression as her tail flicked indecisively behind her, her hind quarters raised as she prepared herself to pounce.

Ayari now glared at the threatening girl cub in front of him. He wasn't determined to be pushed around by other cubs.

"Tani?" Nuka called from behind Vitani as he noticed what was going on. The scruffy male quickly trotted towards the two cubs. Nuka looked to Vitani, then Ayari with a confused look on his face. He then proceeded to scratch his head. "Look at that, you found someone else to bully." Nuka murmured. "I really wonder why all the other cubs like you SOOO much. I've lost count of all your friends." Nuka said sarcastically with a wide tooth grin. Ayari got out of his defensive stance and looked at the scruffy male that joined them.

Ayari's body was hot now, and he was pretty sure that he was seeing doubles of both Vitani and Nuka. Ayari staggered slightly. That caught Nuka's attention. "Hah! Your friend has caught a hint of desert fever." Nuka said with a bold monotone, now scratching his chin.

Poised to strike at any second, Vitani’s focus was shattered by the sound of her older brother’s voice cutting through the silence, causing her to abandon her attack upon the male cub as she whirled about to face her scruffy looking sibling, jeering over at him as she exclaimed in an offended voice.

”He’s not my friend Puke-a! He’s a trespasser and you know how much Mother despises trespassers.”

Hearing Nuka’s comment about what the young male might have caught, being a bit oblivious to what in fact, her older brother was speaking of, Vitani backed away from the stranger, not wishing to catch whatever it was that plagued him. Looking up at Nuka, the curious youngster asked in a naive voice.

”Hmm? He’s sick? How can you tell?”

Looking back towards the new male, Vitani could feel a tiny part of her beginning to feel a slight bit of sympathy towards him, now that she actually noticed his rather weakened state. Still, upholding her tough front and not wishing to lose face in front of her older brother, Vitani turned tail as she started making her way towards the distant figures of the termite mounds upon the horizons, calling back over her shoulder as she departed.

”Well, you’re the older one here Nuka. You deal with him then. Bring him to Mother for all I care.”
