  • Often, the term canon is mistakenly substituted for official, another term that defines the legitimacy of an element from a movie. The mistake is widespread but marginally accepted.
  • The Disney Animated Canon is a group of full-length animated Disney films of similar medium and caliber. Direct-to-video movies are not part of this canon.
  • Canon, although pronounced exactly like it, is often misspelled as cannon.
