He laughed, getting down on his knees to play with her. He leant towards her, tickling her haunches.

She bends her neck to nip gently at his hands. Her emerald eyes close and she relaxes, flopping on the floor.

Xavier laughed, rubbing the wolf's tummy in return.


This is nice, he thought. Nothing weird here.

Ryder looks him in the eyes and exhales gently.

Xavier smiled gently, before drawing his hand away and straightening up.

'So, uh... Do we have a plan of stuff to do? Like, we can't just wander around aimlessly.'

'No idea...' She sighs, Ryder goes back to her and sits down, resting her head on Lana's thighs, 'I just wish they would get back already, not that I don't like this...'

Xavier smiled, almost shyly. Had she just complemented him? It sure sounded like it.

'I like it too... I mean, I like Giovanni and River, but they're so- magical. It's almost unnerving, y'know?' He tried to sound nonchalant, but was genuinely interested in her opinion.

'Yeah....It almost makes you feel...like you're inferior, you know? Like you're not as good at them and there's nothing you can do about it?'

Ryder lets out a long groan and stretches her forelegs.

'Yeah,' he said quietly, frowning slightly. 'Not that I'm resentful, I mean, they can't help it, can they? I just feel... Powerless. And I don't like it at all. I've spent my whole life fighting, protecting myself, and now...' He sighed. 'I'm weak compared to them.'
