It's basically a metaphor. I think. That's how I'm using it.
I got it from a game reviewer. Zero Punctuation. But he's got a pretty bad mouth. He criticizes all games.
It's from how he used it: it is a big prize that's been hidden so well, when it's not to be hidden, thus you can't see it. And he was saying that the games had a good concept for the plot, but it was so hidden and messed up by how it was told. Thus, You can't see the cake behind all of the jelly beans. And just how he says the phrase.
