River bolted up. She knew what was close- big, black, and covered in scales. A dragon. She stood up, turning to the others.
'Stay here,' she commanded. 'DONT come out.' To her surprise, the heeded her warning, and backed up into the cave. She tread outside softly, her hair glinting in the night. There it was; curled up above thir cave, a beautifully young dragon. It smiled at her, it's long teeth like daggers. She should have been intimidated, but smiled instead. It didn't attack.
Leave, she told it. It stood up, stretched its wings, and shot a last longing look down at her companions cave.
Now, she said forcefully. It growled; a tiny, pathetic sound, scared of offending her. It flew away, it's large wings flapping goofily. She shook her head. It would have eaten them.
