Are the hyenas villains?

I think they were not really bad. It's scar lead them wrong. They were also blamed by scar and he said the hyenas are the real enemy.

I personally don't believe they were villains. When Scar was plotting to kill Mufasa in the "Be Prepared" scene he got the hyena trio, Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed, and their pack to agree with the plot after they were promised with an endless supply of food. I sense the hyenas were starving (due to their home being a graveyard) because the hyenas were willing to do anything to make sure they are able to stuff their faces with carrion. Also in the "Elephant Graveyard" scene the hyenas were willing to go after Simba, Nala, and Zazu because they thought they were to going to make a meal out of them. So in a nutshell, the hyenas aren't really evil. Scar knew their weak spot and he used that as an advantage point to usurp the throne from Mufasa and Simba.

I don't agree with this, they only turned against Scar because they were starving and he betrayed them. Not because they thought it was the right thing to do.

Yes they are since they did follow Scar. Pridelanders didn't like the idea of hyenas joining their pride and the hyenas kept the lionesses as slaves. They did hate lions too.

They are villains. They tried to kill Simba and Nala in the elephant graveyard and willingly caused the stampede to kill Mufasa. They seemed proud to be under Scar's orders (Before he took power and the Pridelands became barren). Be Prepared showed how excited they were for Simba and Mufasa to die.

I think that Shinzi and Banzai both choose to be on Scars side, therfor making them villains. But Ed is just your typical henchman, not really having a choose on the matter.

They still did change during the end of Scars rule of the kingdom, when they where complain about the lack of food and water. This slow turn of sides ended up with them killing Scar, so they did kinda change sides during the end.

I don't think they were too evil to be honest. The problem with them is they lacked respect for anything. All they did was live to eat, and eat to live. They only did what Scar told them to, because he promised them food. They are in other words a leech.

Nah, they were just followers. And to be honest, if you were offered a better life which Scar offered them originally, you'd snap at the chance x3 If anything.. The Pride landers are the enemy for not allowing them to hunt and go where they pleased.

Nah. I think they were just followers that were promised a better life from Scar and so they jumped at the chance. And if it meant doing what Scar ordered them to do then so be it. At least they would get a better life. Or so they thought.
