The older generations of TLK

The older generations of TLK

Postby thanigraphics » November 19th, 2009, 9:56 pm

In a lot of TLK family trees, based on (sub)canon materials, such as the movies, comics and books, people have made family trees. In a lot of those family trees, I see Mohatu, the lion king from "the brightest star" mentioned as the father of Ahadi (A tale of two brothers, Six New Adventures) who is the father of Mufasa and Taka (later known as Scar)

The thing is, the book never mentioned Mohatu having a son named Ahadi (or a doughter named Uru, but in all versions Mohatu is seen as the grandfather of Muffy and Taka)
So it is possible that there was a generation, or more generations, between Mohatu and Uru/Ahadi, right? What are your, fact-based, opinions about this?

It’s true that the book never mentions anything about Mohatus cub(s) or wife, for that matter.

Personally, I think that Mohatu is Ahadis father. When Mufasa tells Simba how the great kings of the past are looking down on them, he says that his father (Ahadi) told him this. This makes me think that Ahadi heard the same story from his father (Mohatu.)

Also, Mufasa mentions (in the Brightest Star) that Mohatu is Simbas great-grandfather, which means the line of generations looks like this:

Mohatu-Ahadi/Uru-Mufasa-Simba.

Not really, if you read ''The Brightest Star'', Mufasa says Mohatu is his great-grandfather. So I don't believe that there were more generations between Mohatu's reign and Uru's reign. (I believe Uru was Mohatu's daughter so she had more power than Ahadi.)

Like the other two people replying said, yes, it's clearly stated that Mohatu is Simba's great-grandfather and, in Simba's words, "the king that ruled before Grandfather".

Interesting that you should say that a lot of family trees have Ahadi as Mohatu's son. They used to commonly thought of as father and son several years ago (to keep with the patriarchal structure of the TLK monarchy, I suppose), but nowadays, Uru is depicted as his daughter much, much more often than Ahadi is. I think the reason behind this is because the most popular design for Ahadi depicts him with bright gold fur like Mufasa (although he is never described as having it in TLK:6NA), therefore Uru must have dark fur like Scar, and therefore Mohatu must be her father since he has dark fur as well.

I totaly agree whit Akrill!!!
Uru is more convincingly for me as Mohatus daughter than Ahadi is.
In addition I find the conception boring, which only boys have to been born before Kiaras time.
This makes no sense to me, since it is a 50-50 chance to get a boy or girl.

Woah, I didn't know that was mentioned in The Brightest Star! Thanks for clearing this up.
I have no clue if it's Uru or Ahadi who was at the throne, but in "a Tale of two Brothers" it seems kinda clear Ahadi is the king at that point.

Or maybe Uru told Ahadi and told Mufasa.

Kinda like how Kiara tells Kovu.

I think that Mohatu is Ahadi's father. No prticular reason, my design for Ahadi just looked more like Mohatu than my design for Uru. I think Uru was a lioness in the pride betrothed to Ahadi when they were young.
I find it interesting that most people who think that Uru is Mohatu's daughter think that Ahadi had abusive parents and ran away to the pridelands where Mohatu took him in.
