Revenge - Shadowfax and Tsuki [Private]

[Shadowfax]

Nova watched as her two followers fell into a deep sleep. She smiled as she looked from one to the other. For once, Nova was happy to be in company and felt like she was on her way to achieving something big. A few hours passed and the sun began to slowly creep up into the sky. However, the peaceful scene soon felt wrong. Nova caught a scent on the air and began to growl.

She nudged both Vex and Zuberi with her paw and when they opened their eyes she hissed to them to be quiet.

"Humans..." She whispered fearfully.

[Tsuki]

(Saw the cubs today!!! They were running around. They were so adoarble. You have to meet them <3333 )

Zuberi opened one eye and yawned loudly. He hadn't quite heard what Nova had said and was a bit reluctant to move. His limbs were aching and he hadn't slept properly since he had left his adopted brothers. He lay his head back down on the ground and fell back asleep.

"No...it's sleep times now" he said in a sleepy tone.

"Damn it all, Zuberi if you don't wake up now, you'll never wake up!" Nova hissed through gritted teeth as the humans began to get closer and closer.

Vex woke up shortly after and immediately caught the scent.

"Mother..." She said wearilly.

"I know. Help me get this lazy cat up! Honestly, his nose must be blocked or something" Nova said with deep irritation and she pushed Zuberi with her head as if trying to push him to his feet.

[Tsuki]

Zuberi groaned and opened his eyes.

"Nova. Can't you let a sleeping cat lie?"

His eyes then opened wide as he caught the scent and he was on his feet in a flash. He looked at Nova in fear. Though he had never come across humans in his life, there was no mistaking the scent of fear that hung in the air. He could tell both Lionesses were on edge.

"What's going on?"

Vex's ears fell flat on the top of her head as she watched Nova awaken Zuberi. The scent of humans on the air had her really het up and she was noticeably shaking now too.

"Vex.. Calm down. Now we all lie low unless they see us.. Then we run like hell for leather" Nova whispered to the nervous cats.

The humans were clearly hunters and the guns they were carrying were obvious. Nova growled. She'd escaped humans before, but knew how dangerous those fire sticks were. They were for now not looking in their direction.

[Tsuki]

Zuberi crouched down in the grass, the tip of his tail twitching slightly. He stared right ahead and these new creatures. Creatures that walked upright? Well that was different. But the smell of fear seemed to be everywhere, even in the very soil beneath his paws. Why? Were these creatures that dangerous? He could tell Vex was getting worked up and he looked over at Nova.

"Any chance I could distract them? What are those things?"

He looked back at the creatures as they walked through the undergrowth.

"Clumsy things aren't they?"

"No, you let them see you.. they shoot. A nice cheetah pelt would be a real prize for them" Nova replied, not taking her eyes off the humans who began to walk clumsily through the undergrowth.

Nova had a few run ins with humans before, but had always escaped unharmed. Still, she knew how dangerous they could be so she was on total alert. Then the worst happened. One of the humans looked in their direction.

"Damn it..." Nova growled.

[Tsuki]

Zuberi shuddered as Nova mentioned the hunters taking his pelt and he felt a little bit of bile in the back of his throat. How could a creature be so cruel? But as one of the humans looked over in their direction he froze. Had they spotted them even in this long grass. Nova and Vex seemed to be fine as their pelts blended in with the grass, but his pelt must stand out like a sore thumb. His eyes widened in fear. Would it be him that gave them all away. What would the human do now? Would they come and kill him? He growled under his breath.

"What do we do now?"

"Stay still and keep quiet" Nova scolded Zuberi and her daughter.

The humans were looking over at them now and Nova began to also lose her edge. The longer they stayed here now, the more likely they were all going to die. Nova looked at the two of them for a moment.

"Run... For the jungle" She told them.

With that, She revealed her hiding place and ran off into the Savanah as if to head them away from the other two while they made for the tree lines. As expected, the humans turned their guns on her and took aim.

Zuberi didn't need telling twice. When Nova told him to run he sprinted towards the treeline. His heart raced and his body overheated as it usually did when he was running. He could only run flat out like this for short bursts of a time. He reached the tree line and gasped for breath. He had made it. He turned to look back at the grassland and saw that Nova and Vex hadn't made it to the treeline yet and were making slow progress. Vex wanted to stay by her mother but Nova still hadn't recovered. He looked over at the humans as one raised the Thunderstick. His eyes widened in fear. Without even thinking he had ran back out onto the grassland and knocked himself into Nova, causing her to move out the way of the bullet that missed her paw by inches. Fear gripped Zuberi just then and he froze to the spot.
