Revenge - Shadowfax and Tsuki [Private]

Nova sighed with annoyance at Zuberi's rashness. She could almost see all the questions going through his head and as Vex had heard this story before, she didn't mind that she was going to hear it again.

"I didn't settle down into a lovely pride, find a mate and have little Vex here willingly. I was forced.. By my father and by my abusive mate to be. I was a princess in a land in the east once. I hated it. Yet, my father wanted me on the throne. He betrothed me to a brute of a lion named Zeke, who one night... Made me with cub. I never wanted that life, nor Zeke as my mate. As soon as Vex was born I fled with her. The end. We all lived happily ever after" She growled.

Vex sighed as her mother told the story, but she was keeping a close watch on Zuberi. Why was Nova with him?

[Tsuki]

Zuberi listened to Nova quietly and his ears twitched. This really was a sad story and seemed to be told from the heart. Surely Nova couldn't have made something like that up. But why was she telling him this? He stood up straight and glanced at Vex. She didn't seem too dangerous and surely if Nova WAS her mother, she wouldn't attack him. He turned back to Nova.

"So that's why you didn't want to go that way. That's why we are heading south. You don't want your old pride finding you. But what about the pride Vex has come from? Why did you leave?"

He looked over at Vex.

"Why are both of you out here?"

"I already told you.. Simba took over and ruined everything. He just took what he thought he was owed. The brat didn't realize that in this world, you earn what you get. He just walked back in here and took over. Scar.. The old king was so much better than he was" Nova growled sadly.

"Mother, Scar's ways were not putting the prides best interests first" Vex put in.

"But he treated us like normal lions! None of this royalty crap, we were normal" Nova said with annoyance.

"Maybe so, but he was still killing the land. Not that I agree with Simba's rule either" Vex said with a sigh.

She looked at Zuberi as he asked why they were both out here.

"I came looking for mother because I was worried about her and mother is out here because she was banished for being loyal to the old king. We don't belong there, either of us"

[Tsuki]

Zuberi listened as Nova explained what had happened to the pride she had left. But this was the pride she had fled to. And it sounded like her and her daughter had different views on how the old king had ruled. Nova seemed like a dedicated follower were as Vex didn't seem to want to cause any trouble but wanted to remain loyal to her mother. Zuberi's tail swished. This could be problematic. But then he needed Nova's help. But was Vex willing to help or would she try and persuade her mother otherwise? He looked over at Nova.

"So now what? I doubt your daughter knows of our plans."

[Shadowfax]

Nova sensed Zuberi's unease. Vex's coming may have caused some worry so she would try and put him straight on that as soon as possible.

"My daughter knows I am out for revenge and she has learnt not to stop me" She said, looking over at Vex, but not unkindly.

"If it's the revenge you seek, then I will follow you. I only want you to be happy mother, that's all i've ever wanted. Just promise me that once this is all over, we can be happy?" She asked.

Nova rolled her eyes.

"Yes.... We will be" Though it didn't sound entirely truthful.

[Tsuki]

Zuberi blinked in surprise. So Vex knew about Nova's revenge then? But would Nova be happy afterwards. If they suceeded then what? Would she want to be queen or would she go off and live the rest of her life in peace? Zuberi shrugged.

"Ok. We'd best get going."

He stood up and headed towards the border.

Nova made to follow him, but Vex's voice called her to halt and the lioness looked around at her daughter.

"Mother, what are you doing in the company of a cheetah? I thought you hated anything with spots?" Vex asked, reminding her of the time with the leopards.

"He wants revenge on Pride Rock too. We just need to come up with a solid plan before we rush in and start biting throats" Nova replied out of earshot of Zuberi.

Vex raised an eyebrow at that, but Nova shook her head with frustration. Vex could be a little too clever for her own good sometimes and it often annoyed Nova to no end.

"Come on, let's go" She said, following Zuberi across the border.

[Tsuki]

Zuberi walked over the border and felt like a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders. No more hiding or pretending. He could be himself out here and now they could plan their revenge on Pride Rock. He scraped his claws in the dirt. This was new land. Maybe they could find more out here to help them. He turned to look at Nova.

"Which way now?"

[Shadowfax]

"If we carry on in this direction, pretty soon we are going to reach the jungle. Once there, we can start looking around for any willing to rebel against the king. After we've passed through the jungle, it's all unfamiliar territory to me I am afraid" Nova said thoughtfully as she prowled alongside Zuberi, the limp in her walk less noticeable now.

Vex followed the pair of them in silence for a while, but when she heard her mother mention the jungle she gasped. How could she go back in there after what had happened to Rayn? She sighed and thought she best not mention it. She didn't want Zuberi getting suspicious, not that he had anything to be suspicious about that was....

"Not been to the jungle before then, sorry, what was your name again?" Vex asked Zuberi.

[Tsuki]

Zuberi's ears twitched at the mention of the Jungle. He was still unsure about that new environment and whether he would be able to survive. He just hoped Nova wouldn't abandon him in there. If she did then he would die. Unless of course he tripped over a vine or branch while chasing prey. Then it WOULD be the end for him. He didn't overly like the sound of the jungle. But if that was the way to go then he would go. He doubted he could persuade Nova to change directions anyway. Niether of them wanted to head east. That was for sure. But what if this jungle went on for eternity? And would they find help in there? Or was it only death they would find?

Whe Vex asked him a question, it was like she had read his thoughts. He looked over his shoulder at her.

"Zuberi. And no afraid not. This is all new territory to me. I'm from the lands in the east. Further east from where your Mum was from."
