Should kiara have a been boy?

I wouldn't have had a problem with Simba And Nala having a son instead of a daughter, but by having Kiara as the lead character the filmmakers were able to take the story in a direction it could not have otherwise went. So ultimately I wouldn't have swapped Kiara for a male cub.

So TLK II should have focused on Kopa instead?

I wouldn't have minded either way, but now that I think about it, I'm glad he had a girl because it changes it up. I agree with the member who said she was like the opposite of Simba in regards to not wanting the throne. I like that concept. It's kind of like Ariel and Melody in the Little Mermaid series.

No, the thread is about which you prefer is Kiara was a boy or girl.
But not about how it SHOULD have been based on a male cub "Kopa".

I`m personally very pleased with the fact that Simba and Nala had a daughter. Most Disney films revolve around a male protagonist, so it`s always nice to see a film with a female main character (not just a love intrest) and a female villain to boot!

I would not have wanted Kiara to be a boy.

I don't care if the main character is female or male. I don't know what's so big deal about it? I'm male and I have nothing against Simba being male in TLK. The story and the characters in it makes it perfect. Main character is just a main character and I don't view them so... everyone have their important role in the movie

Hmm, after watching TLK I was expecting a male lion, since it didn't look like a female, it might have been cool if it would've been a male, but I guess it wouldn't have had been the same lovey-dovey story that it is...

I don't really think so. If Simba and Nala did have both a son and daughter of the same age, that would have been very cool to see how they functioned as a family, but I'm happy with Kiara as a girl. The gender of a main character doesn't matter to me as long as they're relatable, layered, have flaws, and they're good role models.

I think it would have mattered a lot since it was based in Romeo and Juliette...
