The problem with wireless electricity is that it's like listening to the radio: if you're in the area, you can access it. There's no way to control who gets the electricity and who doesn't, so there's no way the owner of the transmitter can make a profit. No profit means no investors, and no investors means the project never gets off the ground.
This is why we can't have nice things.
