Chaka

Here's a section from Chaka's entry in the The Unofficial Lion King Character Encyclopedia which I probably should have mentioned earlier in this thread:
CHAKA: Male lion cub. Simba and Nala's son and heir to the Lion King throne, this is at this point the closest thing to an official Disney name for the cub we saw at the end of "The Lion King." In fan fiction, however, he is more popularly known as Tanabi. Please note that at this time this name is unconfirmed and may change again(there have been two or three other names thrown at us by Disney to keep us guessing). Believe it or not, his "official" name during storyboarding in the motion pictue was Fluffy(they had to call him *something*).
Obviously, this entry predates the release of SP. It's interesting to compare the descriptions of Chaka, Kopa and Tanabi to the way they are regarded today -- Kopa is merely described as a cub that was "was reportedly mentioned in a Disney storybook", while Tanabi is "the most widely accepted name by TLK fans for the cub seen at the end of the motion picture." It's amazing how things have changed since then.

I don't believe Tanabi ever existed. I only believed in: Fluffy (died from an illness as a newborn), Kopa (murdered), Chaka (ran away/murdered), Shani (was kidnapped and raised by an unknown couple) and Kiara. lol.

...And wowie, I just found out another interesting detail about Chaka from the TUTLKCE:
According to Dan T. Guyton, in an early version
of the script for "Simba's Pride", Timira was one of two names being
considered for the female cub who would be betrothed to Chaka (Kirijah was
the other name). Since Chaka is reportedly no longer a character in
"Simba's Pride, Timira/Kirijah may have been written out as well.
So if we take this piece of disregarded plot into account, this means that Simba didn't do away with the tradition of betrothal like he said he was going to do, thus he has no excuse for not selecting a male to be betrothed to Kiara. *hunts for eye-rolling emoticon*

I read about Timira/Kirijah once, but I didn't take it seriously... I wonder how she would've looked like - and do those names mean anything in any language?

A Google search revealed that Kirijah is a city in Syria, and a few people are actually named Kirijah. However, I looked high and low and was unable to find what the meaning of that name is.

Another Google search revealed that Timira is a city in India. A few people seem to be named Timira as well -- and a fair number of them are from Africa. As for the meaning of the name, I couldn't find any meaning for Timira, but Timir is an Indian name meaning "inferno". If Timira is meant to be a feminized version of Timir, seems like she's a perfect match for Chaka, whose name means "blazing sun." : )

However, other sources I have found say that "Timira" is a Sanskrit word meaning "darkness" or "obscuration". Much confusion...
Well, actually the animators called the cub "Fluffy". He/she didn't have a real name then.
In the early production stage of SP, Kiara was going to have a brother named Chaka (Kopa) but this idea was dropped very early.
Exactly. I think the cub at the end of TLK was Kopa. Maybe Simba and Nala wanted to name him Chaka first but they changed their minds..? I mean, Kiara was going to be named either Aisha or Shani.
Some people think Kiara had three brothers: Kopa, Chaka and Tanabi. I think they're all the same guy. But who knows?
Chaka is very popular name for Kiara and Kovu's son, too. There are dozens of Chakas in TLKFAA.
I think Chaka and Kopa (as well as Tanabi) is the same cub. Kopa is an official character from a book, Chaka and Tanabi are production/rumour names. Chaka and Tanabi are not real characters.

I`m no super genius. Or are I?

We know but we're talking about Chaka, the fan character.
I wonder what the film would have been like iof he had been kept in? I mean Kiara would have been free of the burdens of future queen and Simba would have possibly not been so overprotective. She would also have had a playmate in Timira/Kirijah. So she may not have gotten bored and gone to the outlands, so she would not have met Kovu... :hmm:
The madness hampsters
Every night they visit you,
Every night they come,
And bit by bit they take your brain
And feed it to their mum.
