Should Simba be replacing Mufasa?

When the Lion King came out,
I started to really like it, but I thought a few changes might be needed in my opinion.
Should Simba REALLY be relacing Mufasa. He does have the same blood of royalty,
but Mufasa seems like a better king. I had a grudge on Simba for most of the time because of
the death of Mufasa. So if we can rewind the movie and change some scenes......
what would you have done about the kings?
My answer to this question is no, Simba shouldn't have replaced Mufasa.

I always preferred Mufasa as king, purely because I saw him as reasonable and fair. Simba is quite rash (only sometimes!) and tends to be over protective, although that's not *necessarily* bad. I think Simba learned how to be a good king, but was different to Mufasa in his own ways. But I always saw Mufasa as the better king, if only by a tiny bit.

It can be argued that Mufasa was actually a pretty crappy king. He knowingly, and probably intentionally overshadowed his brother, and had a nasty prejudice against the hyenas. It can be assumed that he had made many more enemies during his reign as well, as a result of the formation of the Outlander pride during Simba's reign.

When you're dead and half of your pride wants your brother to be the leader, instead of your son... doesn't that seem like a red flag right there?

Of course, Mufasa is portrayed as reasonable and fair, because he is Simba's idol, and Simba is the main character here. But honestly, I don't think he actually was reasonable and fair. I think he's just as flawed as Simba is, at the very least.

You say probably overshadowed his brother. I never saw it like that- I always thought Scar turned on his brother, and after trying to reach him, Mifasa decided it wasn't worth it (or it was hopeless). And the reason Mufasa chased the hyenas was because they were on his turf, and endangered not the lionesses but mainly the cubs. Also, the hyenas were gone in Simbas reign, after being chased off. I don't see how you can judge a king by his enemies- it depends on his surroundings.
But you raised some fair points.

We all have our points here,but regulus, simba also had zira for an enemy.
I agree that each king had some flaws but I was still unsure.

First off, the biggest flaw in comparing Mufasa and Simba's reign is that we don't know the length of time Mufasa was reigning before the movie starts. Think about it, Mufasa could have easily made some terrible decisions early in his reign, but he learned from his mistakes which bettered himself into the monarch we see in The Lion King. Think about it, we are comparing Mufasa's later stages of his reign with Simba's earlier stages of his reign, which is comparing apples and oranges.

It's always better to judge a monarch by the legacy and aftermath of their reign. Mufasa laid the groundwork for the terrible times the Pride Lands would endure with Scar and the hyenas. It's just like the 1950s in American history; every historian knows the 1950s was a prosperous, glamorous time for the western world, but there are underlying problems that complicate this image such as racism and discrimination for African Americans. Yes, the hyenas represent the minorities in my analogy, and the social upheavals towards the end of the movie look identical to the violent, anti-war clashes associated in the 1960s.

Although we will probably never see the later stages of Simba's reign, it's safe to say that with the hyenas out of the Pride Lands and the former Outsiders and the Pridelanders in unity, the Pride Lands will be in good times after Simba's reign on high.

Honestly I don't get why people think that Mufasa at all treated his brother wrongly. I mean what evidence is there really to support that in the movies alone. As for the hyenas they seem to kill anything that moves. I find it interesting that anyone could say it's prejudice when in fact the hyenas wanted to eat both Simba and Nala may I add. They hyenas were savages. They had no respect for law and rule.

As you can see Scar was a pretty crappy ruler. I highly doubt the outsiders had anything against Mufasa. They were more-less influenced by Zira who obviously had a deep loyalty to Scar. Scar probably had treated one half of the pride very well while leaving the other half to starve. Mufasa, even if he treated one half better than the other, at least kept everyone fed, and all the animals actually in the Pride Lands. I really think the only reason they disliked Simba is because they stopped getting their special treatment. Simba became a fairer ruler though he may not make the best decisions. He took Scar from power and caused a balance in the distribution of food. Much like how the rich wouldn't like it if the rich became middle class and the poor became middle class.

As for Simba replacing Mufasa. While I think Mufasa was a "better" ruler; however I do believe that Simba is rightfully on the throne. Simba brought balance back to the kingdom. His actions brought forth a better generation, and animals returned to the Pride Lands. He may be protective of his daughter, but that doesn't affect how he truly runs the entire kingdom. Overall Simba deserves his place. Scar was power hungry and undeserving. If Scar really was a just ruler he wouldn't have killed Mufasa not to mention attempted murdering Simba. Mufasas deserved the throne over Scar. Just as Simba did as well.
