Im thinking of it like this- You have a robot with the ability to feel anything, sadness, happiness, and any other feelings. But he is told to only be happy. Then, I think it would be possible. I personally don't think a human can ever live like this in real life. Just way to many variables and situations to factor in for you brain to decide your 'mood'. If that makes any sense :P
You are what you love, not who loves you.

It does. Its just on an absolute scale nothing can occur but the variable we set. ;)

Real life isn't an absolute scale though. If only happiness existed in real life there would be no happiness, like Regulus has said. In a make-believe world, yeah sure, people could always be happy without sadness and only happiness would exist. But not in real life. This discussion came forth in relation to real life, and that means: no sadness = no happiness.

A life of pure happiness is a life of pure boredom. If you want to be happy, you first need to know what it's like to not be happy.

To use the blind metaphor: blind people have no concept of light, even though it's there around them. This will apply to happiness if that's all there is: It will still be there, but only to an outsider who experienced pain and knows the difference between happiness and sadness, the difference between light and dark.

Here's a great video about how a person who is blind from birth deals with the concept of color - something he never experienced in his life. Now apply this to happiness/sadness:

If you meet someone who lives only in happiness, and you tell them that, they will just look at you like your nuts.
This discussion came forth in relation to real life, and that means: no sadness = no happiness.
Well it did come forth that way, but I was just beginning to think of how a world would be without sadness.

So in relation to the real world no this wouldn't make sense and is impossible, but in an absolute world in which no one can feel anything but happiness than it would make perfect sense.
