^ If they have billions to waste on the stuff mentioned in the link, then I'm also pretty sure they have a bunch of billions for spare to help out their citizens. But no, the neverending ''war on terror'' is more important then their own citizens.

The thing is, we don't have the money to waste. That's why the economy is such a big deal right now.

Like what exactly?

I find that hard to believe. Being one of the wealthiest countries in the world, helping out their own citizens shouldn't be a problem for the U.S.

We're more willing to spend trillions of dollars going to war with certain countries, because terrorists reside there.

Helping our own citizens out? Puh! That's ridiculous! :P

Excellent speech, you literally spoke on behalf of your own country.

Or giving it to over-paid CEOs, I'm not against spending money on defense, because you need to defend yourselves. I think that the biggest problem is that some people gets more money than they deserve.

You know how much the US government spends on defense? It's ridiculous. Just yesterday, it cost them over 7 million dollars to fly a small group of marines (my dad being one of them) from one side of our country to the other. Why? Because they used a charter plane. Our military spends money to hire pilots and equipment to transport our men, after we spend money to train our own pilots and buy our own transport planes.

It's absolutely ridiculous.

This is a cartoon based off an old video game I once played, but I think the point still stands:

The defense budget is important, but we do not need to allocate half our country's GDP (I know, I know, it's just an exaggeration) to making weapons that aren't even remotely as effective as weapons that are only a fraction of the cost.

So you would rather have the military spend a million or so dollars on an IED/small-arms/everything vulnerable group of infantry vs. a lot more on a drone and some GPS guided bombs.

There are people out there who want to kill Americans simply because we exist, and while I don't support invasions and all that, can you really place a price on lives and say that some of our more expensive equipment is useless?

If you want to look where to blame, look at how money is sent to various places. For example, how is my school, which has to cut classes and fire teachers left and right due to budget cuts, able to afford to build a brand new $40 million administrative building?

I don't think we lack the money, but the government is too stupid to use it properly, no matter who's in office.
