L O S T - The beginning of the end (SophieCub + Shadowfax)

"What screaming?" Mia asked Scott, but he was asleep by then so she merely shrugged her shoulders.

She nodded when Sophie told her she should get some sleep, but she would stay awake a little longer, just incase that.. Whatever it was came back. She kept a close eye on Jazz to see if she felt on edge again, but luckily she was sound for the next few hours. Mia decided after that she could sleep without fear. She peered down at the mare.

"Don't wander off now" She whispered to the mare before lying her head down on the seat and falling into a light sleep.

Sophie woke up, it was morning. She smelt the nice morning air, which made her smile. It was different from back home, she looked up at the sun and smiled. She looked around and saw that everyone was asleep, she didn't want to wake them but she wasn't comfortable with being the only one awake on the island. She shook Mia and Scott to wake up.

Scott looked around," Now what..?" He looked over at the sleeping Mia and sighed. Sophie smiled," I will look for my bow and arrow! Archery is like therapy for me. It might help me survive on this island." She went searching for her luggage. Scott started to play with the grass, pulling some of it out. He was easily bored without his computer games and laptop. There were a lot of things they all had to live without.

Mia woke with a start when Sophie shook her shoulder. It took her a moment to realize who she was and what had happened. She'd hoped it had all been some crazy dream, but sadly it wasn't. With a sigh and a heavy heart she sat up and looked out at the jungle before them. It looked rather pretty in the morning light and Jazz was resting under a nearby tree.

Mia sat up and instantly felt thirsty so decided she had better go and find some water or something. She looked over at Scott and Sophie.

"We should find some water. I dunno about you two, but I am dying of thirst" She said, getting out of the seat she was in.

Sophie smiled at Mia's idea,"That's a great idea! You and Scott can go search for water and I will keep looking for my bow and arrow. If I find it then I can easily hunt." Sophie then began to giggle,"But you will have to guide Scott around the island because he's awful with directions." Scott's cheeks turned pink,"No I'm not! Stop saying that!"

Sophie went back to searching through the luggage,"Be careful you two, or three" She pointed to Jazz. Sophie knew it would give them more time to bond, she wanted them to all get alone and she knew it would take Scott awhile to trust Mia. Or any new person for that matter.

Mia nodded and picked up a bucket she had used for Jazz on the plane. She looked up at Scott.

"Ill leave Jazz here with your sister. Come on, lets get going" she told the boy a year younger than herself.

She walked off. She kept her wits sharp though due to her nervousness about what that thing they had seen last night was. Mia wasn't taking any chances so she kept alert.

Sophie smiled at Jazz as the other two left. She was glad to have some company, it was scary being alone on the island, you never know what was out there. She finally saw her bag, she reached out for her bow. "Finally!"

Scott stayed close to Mia, she seemed really calm about it all. Scott wanted to make conversation but decided to stay quiet. He looked around and put his hands in his pockets. It was weird to see the sun out, there was no sun were he used to live. Only rain and dark skies. That's another reason why he stayed in all the time.

Mia watched Scott as they began to navigate their way through the jungle and she noticed he was oddly quiet which was making her feel somewhat awkward. She let the minutes pass, but eventually she couldn't really take it anymore so she broke the silence.

"So where were you travelling to when the plane came down?" She asked as kindly as she could.

The jungle was starting to look a little misty. Maybe that meant water was up ahead? She could hope anyway.

Scott was grateful that Mia spoke first, took a lot of pressure off him," The same place as you were going, I presume." He knew he was being awkward and difficult but he wasn't good in social situations. His blue eyes scanned the forest, he really wanted to find the water, he was getting really thirsty. He looked back over at Mia.

Mia shrugged. Fair enough, it was a silly question but given the current situation, any sort of talk was welcome. She scanned the jungle with her eyes and spotted a small stream up ahead. She laughed nervously, as if thinking it was just an illusion, but sure enough as they got closer she saw it was very much real and she began to pace towards it, assuming Scott would follow. Once she reached it, she knelt down with the bucket and filled it to the top with clear, fresh looking water. She then began to cup the water in her hands and took a few sips. Water had never felt so refreshing to her.

"We better drink some before we go back. This won't last long" She said, gesturing to her bucket.

Scott nodded as Mia gestured her bucket. He picked up his bucket and scooped up as much water as he could. He then took a few sips of water and smiled. He didn't really like water but this was amazing, probably because he had not had it for awhile. It felt so fresh, so beautiful. He guzzled down some more before going to pick up his bucket. "Wait a minute" he put down his bucket. "This is quite heavy to carry all the way back, we can't do this every day."
