Survival of the fittest - AmyMarie and Shadowfax

Ashelin nodded to Aimee as she walked off. Sam followed her to check she was ok. As he left, he threw a few more bits into the basket he was carrying. He laughed as he went.

"We'll have a real feast tonight!" He said cheerily "Once we find somewhere to settle down" he told Aimee.

Ashelin almost winced as George put a hand on her shoulder. She turned to look at him for a moment.

"It's mind over matter. It's nothing really" She said shrugging it off.

She was pleased she could help Aimee and that she was walking now, but she didn't feel like she'd done alot to help. Ashelin went to say something to George then, but she halted as she heard footsteps coming from the corridor outside.

OOC: show
I plan to have the group of them captured and taken out to the car park. They'd have no use for George & Sam (they do for Aimee and Ashelin, you can probably guess what that is), so initially they'd want to kill the boys. There, Aaron will intervene subtly and convince the other gang members to spare Sam to use as a short of child laborer (I dunno lol) and tell them he'd find a way to convince George to join the gang. If its ok with you then, they'd take them back to Newport to their headquarters/base and yeah...see what happens from there

Silence fell over the four of them. Aimee had heard the footsteps as well, put was closer to the source of sound, and not with the others. She very carefully began to back down the aisle she was in, which happened to be the closest one to the exit. She had to move slowly to not make any noise, and because her leg wouldn't be up to it. Voices started, and Aimee listened as she moved slowly. She froze when she recognized them.

"Nah, mate. Cardiff ain't worth the hassle now. Nothing left there" said one low voice.
"Newport ain't all that good either" said another low voice.
"We have control over it though, that's what matters" said a third voice.
"I'm the one with control over it. Don't forget who's boss..." growled a final voice.

Aimee hadn't forgotten. Their accents were 'Welshier' than her and George's, and their voices were harsh. They prowled into the supermarket, four men in their twenties, fully armed and out to do no good. Out to do evil in fact. Aimee lowered the basket to the floor very shakily and began stepping backwards. They hadn't looked down the aisle...yet.

Aimee would have to make a run for it, get to George and get out. The risk of her leg locking again would have to be taken. With one final push from the sound of them speaking again, she sprinted. The pain was irrelevant and she put it aside. She turned down the aisle the others were in and flung herself at George. With shaky breaths she finally spoke.

"G-George..." she said, voice shaking.
He stared right at her, holding back onto her for dear life. "Its them". George's mouth fell open and he turned and shot a look at Ashelin.
"We have to get out. Now. There must be a back exit" he whispered hoarsely.

Meanwhile, a young man was sat in a black jeep in the car park. He was at the driver's seat. He was wearing sunglasses and he twirled the pistol he held in his hand as he lent out of the window. Aaron was impatient. He had wanted to go in and do the raid as well, but alas, the gang wanted him to look after the car. They don't trust me, he thought to himself. He smirked though. Well, I don't trust them so it doesn't make much difference.

He could see another car parked a little distance away. He thought he recognized it, but he dismissed the thought.

(ooc: sounds good to me :) Good luck to them with Ash though xD mind if I play a temporary gang member?)

When Sam heard the voices and the footsteps approaching them, he made a beeline for the aisle behind Ashelin and George. He hid himself on one of the bottom shelves where the toilet roll was. The boy was shaking and unknown to him, for good reason.

Ashelin instinctively raised her gun as Aimee came round the corner, but seeing it was her she lowered her arm. She didn't like the sound of what she said though and blinked with confusion.

"Who's coming?' she asked, but George cut across her and told them they had to get out.

"Wheres Sam?" she whispered.

(OOC: Of course not, go ahead :3)

George and Aimee were just going to make a dash for it, but at Ashelin's questions George halted, holding onto Aimee to prevent her from running off in her own panic. He looked around. The boy was nowhere to be seen.
"We have to find him" Aimee whispered, having come to her senses. She began to creep down to the end of the aisle. The teenager looked both ways and then crossed the gap. She could hear footsteps and voices again.

The leader of the gang, Matthew (27 years old), or Matt as he's better known felt a bit uneasy. As he walked through aisle's examining the contents of the shelves, he felt another presence. He wasn't alone. The sound of breathing became clear to him. He looked through slight gaps in the shelves, and saw a small figure hid in the toilet rolls. He grinned to himself. Silently, he turned the aisle.

With a swift movement, he had grabbed the figure by its shoulders. It was a boy. With disappointment, he pulled the boy out of his 'hiding' spot and stood him up. He had a careless look on his face as he pulled out a knife. It was all procedure by now. Before the boy could make a sound, he poked the knife at his chest, not hard enough to hurt, just hard enough to make a point. He was bent over a little, staring at the boy as his eyes glinted with what appeared to be ruthlessness.

"Now, I don't want any fuss or any sound little guy". Another man, Harvey (26), appeared beside Matt. Harvey was his right hand man. "I doubt he's alone. Harvey, get the other two to scout the aisles". The younger man nodded, glancing at the boy Matt had in his grasp before moving off slowly. Matt turned his head back to the terrified looking child "Who are you with, and what weapons have they got?" he asked lowly.

Aimee had been unfortunate to be in the aisle opposite this conversation. She peeked through and had heard & seen everything. Despite her wanting to rush in and save Sam, she had no idea where the other gang members were, and what aisle they would look down first.

Sam went to cry out when he was discovered, but his voice left him out of the fear he was feeling. When he was pulled from his hiding place, Sam began shaking as he saw his capture. He was armed from head to toe and there was an unkindness in his eyes and his voice when he began to speak. Then he pulled the knife out and Sam thought it was over. The boy snapped his eyes closed and whined as the knife was pressed to his chest, but the blow never came. He opened his eyes and looked up at his attacker, but said nothing. He wanted to call out for Ashelin, or George and to yell to Aimee to escape, but he was so scared nothing came to him.

"N...oneiser" he managed to stammer as the man asked him who he was with.

Ashelin watched Aimee creep away. She caught George's eye and motioned to his pocket, hoping he would remember the gun. She motioned with her hand she was going one way and that he should go the other. Not daring to speak, Ashelin dropped into a crouching position and began to creep round to another aisle. She kept a firm grip on the gun and her breathing was steady and un-audioable.

Two more men came in at that moment, both in their early thirties. One was balding, the other had short shaggy brown hair. Both had stubble and looked alot taller than George. Ashelin spotted them and darted behind a display of beer boxes. She was well concealed here and peered round the corner to see where they were going to go next.

"Hey Matt, there are some great coffee's over there" One said to their leader.

At that moment he spotted Sam and began to laugh cruelly.

George saw Ashelin's motion and he drew the gun from his pocket. He wasn't as nervous as he thought he'd be at the prospect of using it. He nodded as Ashelin began to walk away, and he turned on his heels and walked in the opposite direction. He got lower and lower to the ground as he advanced further away. He soon got to the end of the aisle.

Harvey in the mean time had began searching the place and, unfortunately, had noticed Aimee watching Matt through the shelves. He had also realised who she was. He stood in surprise for a moment before grinning.

Matt raised a brow at the boy's reply. Of course, he was lying, but he had the nerve to.
"Oh really?" he asked, cocking his head to the side. He brought the knife up to the boy's face instead. Matt was probably an undiagnosed mental illness patient, and he had a touch of sadism in his head. He enjoyed seeing others in pain. The world was dying from the virus, and him being immune gave him the perfect opportunity to be able to let out his inner demons.

"You see" he said, pressing the tip of the blade up against the boys chin, "I don't believe you". He was about to leave a mark when he heard a voice. Turning around he let the knife retreat and he smiled at his comrade. "Well, makes a change from the stuff back at base then I guess. I could do with a caffeine boost. Reflexes will be better then. Better for cutting little boys who dare to move". He said the end of the sentence louder. He still had a firm grip on the child.

"Boys!". Matt looked up, it was Harvey calling from another aisle. Aimee shot around and saw the man at the other end of the aisle. She knew exactly who he was too. "Guess who's 'ere?" he shouted again. Matt listened with great curiosity. "The St. Johns are in the supermarket". Matt's eyes brightened, he'd been searching for that pair for a good while.

Harvey had been loud enough for George to hear. He must of found Aimee. Forgetting his cover, George began to run. He had found the aisle, and was lucky enough to be on Aimee's side of it. Aimee backed away from Harvey, who was walking towards them with a spring in his step. She slipped behind George who stood defensively. "George! How wonderful it is too see you" the man said, laughing. "How wonderful it is too see you too Aimee" he added with a tone in his voice that made George tense up and Aimee weaken.

Harvey began to move faster, hands on his own weapons. George's hand came from behind his back and he held his own gun up.
"Stop" he growled. Harvey did indeed stop. He hadn't gotten his own weapons out fast enough. Still, he knew how to intimidate these siblings. He advanced again, without weapons in his hands but with a big grin on his face. George's hands tightened around the gun and he fired it. It skimmed Harvey's shoulder, but it had been George's warning shot. The older man stopped.
"Brave boy eh?"

Sam began to cry as the man held the knife under his chin. He was so close to death he was starting to feel it and he could feel his legs going to jelly. He suddenly gasped as one of the other man revealed he had found Aimee and George.

"N..No, they arn't who you-" Sam began, but the man who had just joined them held his rifle up and aimed it at Sam's head.

"Shut your mouth boy, or i'll blow your brains out"

This made Sam silence himself immediately, yet the tears still streamed down his face. The man who had made the treat, who went by the name of Jack walked off to circle the area.

Ashelin sat behind the beer boxes undetected. There was one gang member who was still searching though and he was getting closer and closer. She heard the men find Sam, then Aimee and finally George. She cursed under her breath as George had revealed himself. He'd lost his cover and his element of suprise. That boy needs to learn She thought to herself.

Then she heard them sprinting, then a gunshot. The man stalking Ashelin looked away from the beer boxes for a moment so she knew it was now or never. She leapt out of her hiding place, locked her arms round his neck and twisted till his neck broke. The man fell to the floor with a loud clatter, though he did not make a sound from his mouth. Ashelin took his weapons. A knife, a small pistol and a rifle. She slipped the knife and pistol in the back of her jean pockets and took the rifle in her arms.

They still hadn't detected her yet. Perhaps she could get to them and shoot the others in the head like last time? But there were so many of them and they were already all on edge so she could cause panic and they may well kill the others by mistake. Ashelin crept forward again, keeping to the shadows and the aisles. She then felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up as something metalic pressed against her neck.

"Drop the gun sweetheart" Came Jack's voice.

Ashelin turned her head and smirked.

"You forgot to say please"

And with that she grabbed hold of Jack's wrist and pushed the gun away. The man hit the trigger and shot a bottle of beer behind them. Ashelin wrestled with the man who was alot stronger than her, but she wasn't letting go.

A couple of the other guys began to notice the brawl happening between Jack and Ashelin. Although, they did not move straight away to help him out. They jeered for a moment at the fact Jack wasn't able to hold his own against her. Matt rubbed his temples.
"What happened to us being a swift organisation?" he asked. The young man actually had some brains, unlike his fellow gang members.

Harvey meanwhile, had been slowly but surely getting to George. The older man knew that he'd have to get the sister out of the picture before he could make any sort of attack. George hadn't taken his eyes off Harvey, and didn't notice when a couple of the guys managed to slip Aimee away with nothing more than a grab and a hand over the mouth. Though she kicked, she found herself unable to make even the quietest of noises.

"You wouldn't shoot me boy. You can't shoot me" Harvey growled. George felt the sweat coming from his forehead. It was different now. He could end that man's life. Ashelin had told him not to be sympathetic. Although, something triggered inside of him when he saw a gun peaking from around the aisle behind Harvey, pointed in his direction. It wasn't a fair fight, not with someone hiding out as a back up for Harvey. George fired the gun, it managed to hit the man holding the gun and he heard a thud following a groan of pain . He hadn't missed.

"Why shouldn't I shoot you? In fact, why shouldn't I shoot all of you? Where's Matt?" George asked, growling at Matt's name.
"You wanted me?" came a familiar voice behind him. It was Matt. George shot a look behind him and stood with a sideways stance. "You don't want to be shooting anybody George". Matt still holding onto the crying boy, this time with a gun in his hand and not a knife, he had dis-guarded it for the time being. George saw Aimee a little distance away being held, but he didn't lose it, it'd end up getting them all killed. Matt called out to the wrestling pair, "Woman, whoever you are, this boy mean something to you?". He held the gun under Sam's chin and smiled at him. "I wouldn't cry mate. Not yet".

(OOC: Sorry for mammoth post xD)

Ashelin managed to pull the gun from the mans hand after some time, but her weak arm gave her a disadvantage and it slipped from her hands, skidded under one of the stand in the aisles and vanished from view. She launched herself forward and crawled her way towards the gun so as the man behind her couldn't retrieve his weapon first. Jack grabbed hold of her legs and began to attempt to pull her away from the gun she was trying to reach. Her own rifle was on the otherside of the aisle when she'd thrown it to get hold of Jack's own gun.

Ashelin kicked out, but the man was stronger than she was. He then span her round so she was lying on her back and held a knife to her neck. He laughed and gently ran it along her neck causing a little blood to ease out of the fresh cut. Ashelin didn't even flinch though.

"Brave little thing arn't you? And very pretty" Jack said with a smirk, placing his sweaty palm on her cheek.

That was it. Ashelin lost it and punched the man full in the face. He groaned and stumbled backwards with the knife still in his right hand. Ashelin kicked that away too, breaking one of his fingers in the process, again making him groan in pain. She reached into her back pocket and drew out the small pistol she had stolen from the other man earlier. The man stumbled around on the floor, groaning, blood dripping from his lip and his finger throbbing.

Ashelin grabbed him by the collar and yanked him to his feet. It was difficult for her with her bad arm, but she managed without complaining or showing weakness this time.

"Even a pretty rose has thorns" She dug the gun into his head "You'd do well to remember that"

She then heard Matt call out to her. She bit her lip when she realized he had all three of them captives now. She swore under her breath and was silent for a moment. Did Sam mean anything to her? Not really, but she wouldn't let him kill any of them. Again, she pressed the gun into Jack's head and whispered for him to move.

As Ashelin rounded the corner, she kept the gun at his temple. She spotted Sam in the corner, crying, as Matt held a gun to his head. George was there too, holding the gun and she had seen and heard shots so she assumed he had used the gun they had found. Behind him stood Aimee, being restrained by two of the thugs. She whispered to her hostage to stop, then looked Matt dead in the eye.

"I dunno Matt, does this idiot mean anything to you?"

George had finally retreated. With other men pointing their guns at him and at his sister, he couldn't of shot his way through them all if he tried. With a reluctant, desperate sigh, he dropped his gun. Harvey picked it up and then held it against George's back.
"Turn around lad, the game's up. Go stand next to your sister like a good boy". George tensed up, looked at Ashelin and then became ashamed.

Matt's men dared not interfere with Jack and Ashelin's fighting, in hear of themselves getting hurt. It was also entertaining to some degree. Matt however, at Ashelin's comment, began to laugh. He stared at Jack, a little shamed that one of his men was losing to a woman of all things. With one hand still holding onto the boy, he began to twirl the gun in his hand.

"Well, in all honesty, he don't mean a thing to me" he said with a grin. "Jack hasn't been with us long, and I'm not even sure if I can trust him yet...in fact" he raised the gun up, pointing at the man being held by Ashelin "I could finish the job off for you m'dear". Matt was deadly serious.
