Kovu and Kiara - Theories

well, I believe they met more than once. but Vitani caught Kovu slipping out at last and so they couldn't risk meeting anymore.

I sure believe those two have met more than once, because otherwise it would be kinda sick for them to bond so fast.

I, for one, think they had more than one. Maybe one when they were teens? Otherwise Kiara couldn't have remembered Kovu! That's my point! It's barely possible to remember someone from your early childhood to adulthood isn't it?

I think it’s unlikely that they met again because Zira would have kept Kovu under strict watch and been busy training him. Although Kiara has no problem slipping away from her babysitters, it would be difficult for her to arrange a meeting with Kovu. It’s not like she would be able to send him an SMS.

That being said, I do believe they met several times after their first encounter. I think they both were fascinated by eachother, and Kovu especially really wanted them to be friends. Also, I think Kiara seemed very lonely as a cub, so I don’t think she would let a chance at befriending another cub slip away.

In short: I believe they could have had a few, sporadical meetings. I think Kovu made quite an impression on Kiara at their first meeting, it was his innocent question "what are you doing?" that made her recognize him when they met again as adults.

I didn't really think about this much until recently and just went with the idea that they had only met that one time as cubs. However thinking about it a bit more they would have had to have met multiple times to have fallen as madly in love with eachother as they did, and as another post mentioned Kiara may have not remembered him as an adult when he saved her.

Kiara was a sneaky little cub so she could have evaded Zazu and Timon/Pumba's sight more than once to go and play with him as well.

It's a shame we didn't see it though, but I guess it may have been considered filler by alot of people had it been included in the movie.
