I don't understand all the hate towards Russell Crowe either to be honest...I thought he did a good job.

I mean, its a hard role as well in my opinion. I think Stars is one of my favourite songs from Les Mis, and how often can you say that about a villain song? (well, except for Hellfire TPAM)

It certainly is...and if his suicide scene could make me cry, then that says quite a bit about the performance in my opinion. He's not the BEST singer in the world but come on, he's still better than, say...Pierce Brosnan in Mamma Mia, for those who've seen that (if you haven't...look it up) I don't think he deserves any hate. People fail to realise that this isn't a stage production of Les Mis....it's a movie! In musical theatre, the singing is way more important than the acting, but in a movie version it's the other way around. His acting was great, and that kind of makes up for whatever his singing might be lacking. At least in my opinion. Singing doesn't have to be flawless to have a great dramatic effect (Hellfire is a great example of that as well TPAM...). On stage, maybe, but certainly not on film.

If anyone hasn't seen this, I reccomend it :3 Russell Crowe hate is wrong, but for the most part they have reasonable points.

I'm going to catch up on the posts in this thread at some other time, and I only have a few minutes since I am avoiding internet during the Oscars. But a HUGE congratulations to Anne Hathaway and the entire cast and crew of Les Miserables for the awards they won tonight.

I have cried several times from the small clips shown at the Oscars and Anne's speech was amazing. The way she ended it was absolutely beautiful!

Also the performance by the cast was amazing! I was pretty much jumping up and down when it started, but I started crying when Samantha Barks came in as Eponine by singing "One more day all on my own..." ALL THE FEELS GUYS! <3

Anyway, commercial's over! Back to the Oscars!

I'm sitting here literally sobbing my eyes out at Anne's speech. It's 4:30 AM and I'm so happy I stayed up for this. So happy. She deserves it so much <3 And their live performance was so epic. I just....wow. I can't even cope with my feels right now.

Just like you two, I am very happy with the awards they got so far. I loved the cast performance, which was fantastic and I got so hyper to see Anne win Best Supporting Actress. :D

Haven't seen the live performance (will when I get home from school today) but I know who won what! Its a pity Les Mis didn't win more, but congratulations to them for what they got and to everyone else who won! <3

Even though I wanted Les Mis to win Best Picture and didn't, I still enjoyed their performance at the Oscars last night and still happy with the awards they got. :)

I was definitely disappointed that Hugh Jackman didn't win...since he did such an amazing job. I didn't think for a minute that Les Mis was going to win Best Picture, because the Academy would never chose a musical over a politics/war drama (or whatever genre Argo belongs to). I was still hoping that I'd be wrong, but it wasn't exactly surprising. The competition was tough this year, no doubt.
