I hope all those injured people are ok though
Injured people generally aren't okay, sorry to dash your hopes.
I think she's meaning that at least they're are still alive and not dead considering it could have been a lot worse. ;)
Hmph, sarcastic reply in sarcastic Flip. I meant going to be ok but yannow, I make mistakes in my posts sometimes.

It wasn't even the meteor that did all the damage, but rather the shock wave from it. The explosion of the meteor as it burned up shattered a bunch of windows, hitting a lot of people with flying bits of glass. Nothing necessarily lethal, but very painful never the less.

Although the chances of this happening again like this are very small. The Earth recently passed through some path of a comet, so I think what flew over Russia was a bit of it.

I heard that people heard a sound that was almost like a sonic boom. Could you imagine?! Some people must've thought the world was coming to an end. I just hope everyone who's injured gets better quickly. Those poor people. :disappointed3:

Actually, ''hurting'' people is not even close what those damn rocks are really capable off. Our most powerfull nuclear warhead would be merely a fart compared to a 1km asteroid or comet.

Which we already spotted and know with 99.99999999% certainty that any of those will not get us for the next 1000000+ years. (I know that there are a few "maybes" far closer than that, but as our models increase in accuracy, we are discovering that the chance of them hitting us is decreasing). A wonderful thing, gravitation, is.

The only way we might have to be afraid of large asteroids is if we decide to go out, get one, and bring it back in one piece.
