Hello fellow Les Mis fans!
So tonight I had a Victor Hugo night. First Dad and I watched The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and then Dad decided to put on the Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Concert. We watched it all the way through, and oh my gosh, it's amazing! For those of us who are (im)patiently waiting for the movie, I'd definitely recommend seeing the concert! Absolutely amazing!
Alfie Boe as Jean Valjean was amazing! And also Javert was fanastic too! It featured Lea Salonga as Fantine, although you might know her more as the singing voices of both Jasmine and Mulan. Marius was played by Nick Jonas, who did a good job, but was nowhere near as awesome as Eddie Redmayne was in the movie. Ramin Karimloo as Enjorlas was EPIC! Gosh, I loved him!
Also, for those who enjoyed Samantha Barks as Eponine in the movie and want to see her perform the role again? Well, she was Eponine in the concert too!
Honestly, this concert was put together so well! The orchestra, the performers, the special effects. AMAZING! It's definitely a must watch.
They even did a special thing at the end where they brought out the original cast from 1985! And also had all four of the Jean Valjean's perform "Bring Him Home". Honestly, any Les Mis fan should watch this.
I'm also going to admit tonight brought out a lot of emotions in me. I've been struggling the past few days/weeks and it just made me feel a bit better. On another emotional note, I got kind of sad too because Dad and I began talking about my uncle who passed away 11 years ago. He LOVED Les Miserables and we know he would have loved the movie and the concert. Back then he was sorry he wouldn't be around to see the 2nd and 3rd part to Lord of the Rings...
Anyway, not to depress anyone. I just thought I'd mention it. It's amazing how musicals can affect you emotionally.
Point is; check out the concert, yo! xoxo
