Long Road Ahead [ Shadowfax + Wolf Song] -Private-

Xandra moved fluidly through the on coming bullets. Two of them ricocheted off the ground, flinging past her and nearly hitting Kili. She pricked her ears and froze in worry over him. He was just standing there like a complete imbecile in the open. She barked his way, telling him to move but it was useless. With the last of amount of energy left within her body, she raced over to him and forcefully grabbed his nape.

He was quite heavy and it took alot of power to move him. But luckily the bullets managed to miss him. However Xandra wasn't so lucky. A bullet had pierced her back leg, rendering it useless because of the pain. The she wolf howled in agony but did not collapse. She struggled to make it to the alleyway where she had thrown Kili out of harms way. It all seemed to be over for her but out of no where cars swarmed the area. The humans pursuing her turned tail and began to run, followed by other humans with guns. She silently thanked who ever was out there watching over her.

"Kili.. are you al-alright...?.." Xandra was unable to withstand the pain any longer as she collapsed to the ground - blacked out.

Kili was shaking as Xandra managed to drag him into an alleyway. He'd never come that close to death before and the thought and adrenaline both scared and excited him. He felt himself being thrown to the ground and looked up to see the exhausted Xandra standing there. His unusual eyes soon found the bullet wound in her leg and he whined wearily. There were some approaching humans and Kili looked nervously at the unconcious form of Xandra before him. Without thinking, he changed to his human form.

"Hey you, did you see which way those gang members went?" A police officer asked.

Kili turned his head, his hair the usual mess and his clothes torn. He kept his wounded arm hidden though, aswell as Xandra's blood stained muzzle.

"No.. but they shot my dog!" He yelled at them.

The police officer was taken aback by this and tutted with annoyance after sometime.

"Sorry kid, but atleast you've only got yourself to look out for now" The police officer said "Homeless guy, their always a little crazy" The Officer whispered to his collegue as they walked off.

Once out of sight and earshot, Kili took his wolf form once more and gently grabbed Xandra by the scruff of the neck and pulled her along the alley to try and find them some shelter.

Brief memories flickered in Xandras head, the looks of disappointment from her pack and their reprimanding words. Then her thoughts flashed back to moments before when the bullet had struck her in the leg. But the main one that plagued her mind was if Kili was okay or not. She couldn't live it down if she allowed him to get hurt, let alone shot and killed by those fire sticks. But her persistent body resisted the urge to wake and discover what was going on.

Voices swirled around her that were unfamiliar and most likely human. Thankfully she wasn't awake or she might kill those ones too. After a little bit the noise gradually drifted into the distance. All of the sudden she felt her nape being pulled on, as if she was being dragged by someone or something.

Time passed by slowly before her body actually gave into Xandra's wants to wake up. When her silvery eyes finally shot open, the first thing she saw was the walls of buildings and a path of blood trailing behind her. In his wolf form was a tired Kili who was dragging her along. "K-Kili! You're alright. Where are we?"

Kili pulled Xandra into the shadows and out of sight from the humans. His heart was racing and the thought of the bullet embedded in Xandra's leg scared him. What if she couldn't walk when she came to? He whined slightly, but continued to pull his friend to safety. He came to a halt under the shadows of a large set of stairs. He looked up and saw the moon rising above them. Fighting the urge to howl he began to gather his strength and occasionally look over at Xandra's wounded leg. Under the moonlight, the young wolf's mysterious markings around his eyes became apparent.

When Xandra awoke however it startled him, but he wagged his tail with pleasure to see that she was alright.

"Im fine. Are you? You were... shot" The wolf said, his ears flattening on his head.

"I managed to get you to safety but we cannot stay here too long"

She clumsily climbed to her paws and stumbled while only on all three. Her back leg was lifted off the ground to give it less stress but it made her shake uneasily and look awkward when she moved. Xandra couldn't bare to look at mangled injury on her leg and decided it was best to not inspect it just yet. Once she managed to get a good footing she looked at the area Kili had dragged her to. It was dark, quiet and human free, the closest thing to paradise she needed at the moment.

"I managed to get you to safety but we cannot stay here too long."

She was disappointed by the fact that they had to keep moving in the condition she was in. But she didn't allow herself to complain but hesitantly accept and go on. "But I can't go on like this. How do we get this out of me?"

( Maybe we could have Kili tell her about the human hospital and how they can treat her there. That would also give Kili a chance to show her his human form and convince her to shift into one as well. While they're at the hospital and after she gets treated, Xandra gets tired of being in her human form and shifts back. This causes some sort of chase scene that leads them to the depths of the hospital where they discover a flower maiden/man or more about paradise? It's just a thought : 3 )

Kili whined as Xandra struggled to walk. He felt so useless and felt it was partly his fault she had been shot. The young wolf looked on as he walked alongside his friend. When she asked him how to get the bullet out though he stopped and thought to himself, his eyes hardening.

"Well.. you won't like it but there is somewhere that might be able to help you" Kili began "Though.. they'd probably ask all sorts of questions and.. you'd have to use a human disguise"

"What!?" Xandra couldn't believe what he was saying. A human disguise? How could she possibly disguise herself as a human? What would even make her want to do that? That was not only a disgrace to her but to her pack and their honor as wolves too. She gave him a cold stare and looked at him seriously as if he had just asked her to do the impossible.

"How is that even possible? And if I wanted to those damned humans couldn't help me..could they? They're the ones that did this to me!"

"Calm down" Kili said gently.

He knew this was going to be her reaction even before he had asked her so he wasn't at all suprised by this. He sighed and stood up in his human illusion, but quickly switched back out of fear of Xandra attacking him.

"We look like them, we can walk among them without fear. If you want to cure your wound then this is the only way. Don't worry, you can switch back whenever you wish to, but I wouldn't advise it in the company of humans. As for the explanations, better leave that to me. I was stabbed by a human a year ago and had to enter one of their hospitals. They fixed me up without too many questions so don't worry" Kili tried to explain calmly.

She couldn't really argue against Kili because what he suggested was the smartest thing. She would have to put aside her hatred for humans and let them help her in return. But she couldn't help but feel wrong and decietful doing so. There was apart of her that felt like if she did so that she wouldn't be a wolf anymore. Xandra felt like she'd lose her way and become lost like so many others. Although there wasn't much of a chance she had if she didn't go to the hospital.

The she wolf watched in complete shock as Kili shifted into a human. It sent chills down her spine as she soon realized he looked nothing like he had before but yet another human in the crowd. Her lips curled back but she quickly stopped herself, reminded that it was Kili.

With a brief pause, Xandra thought of a suitable human form for herself and focused on that. Soon she found herself tranforming into a tall, blacked haired, fair skinned human women. She lifted up her hands in front of her face and looked at her body in disgust. Then she tried to walk but it was impossible. How was she supposed to make it around on one leg. Atleast before she had three but now she only had two. "I feel so wrong..."

In any other circumstance, Xandra's attempt to walk as a human would have been comical, but Kili kept a straight face and stood up again in his own human illusion. He thought Xandra looked rather attractive as a human, but he wouldn't dare tell her as she'd probably rip his eyes out. Calmly, the young wolf stood next to her and placed her arm round his shoulders for balance.

"If it means anything, you don't look that bad" He said gently as he began to help her along the alleyway.

"Don't worry, you won't have to stay in that form for too long. They'll get the bullet out and we will be free to head off to your homeland. Just be careful not to transform back or kill anyone in there.. It's our only chance of getting you better"
