Let me repeat: Take Celsius:

When in your entire life, have you ever experienced 100? And I'm not talking about artificially in the form of boiling water.

Seriously, you think I'm joking? Look it up. There are pros and cons for all the temperature gauges.

Or to put it this way: Zero is very cold. Twenty is already very hot. Not a lot of breathing room, is there?

As for miles: They are longer than kilometers, so they are better.
And pounds: unlike Kilograms, they are an honest unit of force. What you Europeans call a kilogram is not a kilogram, but a kilogram-unit of force.

Well, pounds does make more sense, in that it's actually a force.

I never even understood what mass was until the eighth grade. Everyone always explains it as "it's like weight, but it's not weight," but that doesn't make any sense to a child.

Everyone knows what a force is, and weight is a force. Mass is it's own thing, but in everyday life, the way we perceive mass is as a weight.

Really, we should measure weight in Newtons, instead of kg or lbs.

Seriously? That makes absolutely no sense. Longer isn't always better.

Then we shouldn't be using Fahrenheit. We should be using some sort of logarithmic scale.

Personally I like m/s because you get a sense of how fast you're really going.

If you hit a tree at 60 mph, what would happen? Now, if I say 60 mph is 26.8 m/s, that takes it to a whole new level. In one second, you're going 26.8 meters. That's really far, and that's not a lot of time.

It makes people realize why it's important to drive carefully.

Just lol.

Until you start running long distances. Gee, let me think... 26 miles, or 40 kilometers? The smaller number makes a huge distance. Plus, 100 miles is a much greater achievement than 100 kilometers.

Do you know how many people struggle with logarithmic scales? Besides, tell me the logic behind the fact that the difference between 10 and 11 is greater than 0-10 combined.

Metric system = divisable by 10
Weird American system = divisable by anything but 10

Since larger numbers are better, let's start measuring distance in lightyears.

Hey, DG, what was your time for the 0.000001 lightsecond dash?

I don't dash, so excuse me. I run long-distance. Up mountains. Last time I checked, you yourself admitted that you are not that fit. And I doubt that Woeler is too.

And you are the guys who complain most loudly about faulty healthcare systems. I wonder why.

If you're going to be in the olympics, you're going to need to be able to run a few millionths of a lightsecond.
