Massive School Shooting at an Elementary School

Actually, I have no interest in firing that kind of weapon thanks.

That is an excellent question. The gun itself isn't the problem, it's the availability of the gun and this person clearly had some sort of mental illness that was unaddressed. Justine Bateman hits it on the head as it were, "Why does a tragedy like 9/11 change everything about air travel, but numerous gun massacres CHANGE NOTHING?" It's going to come down to what's easiest and most cost effective to change: gun control or mental health care (since a good majority of people that perpetrate these crimes are mentally disabled in some way). There isn't a solution that will please everyone.

Oh and to go back to the "criminals will find a way" argument, why have laws at all then?

And as for your reason, you're going to carry a semi-automatic rifle everywhere you go? These shootings are happening everywhere. Malls, movie theaters, schools, churches, etc. I understand the desire to protect what's important, but that seems paranoid.

Uh... define "numerous". These guns crimes are VERY FEW and VERY far in between.

And honestly, I have no idea why 9/11 changed air line travel. After all, Flight 93 proved that the tactics used during 9/11 became useless... during 9/11. The change in airline was just appeasement towards mass hysteria.

As for guns everywhere: Can I not keep my guns in my own home? Can a shopkeeper not keep a gun in his shop (or whichever privately owned business they own)? It's one thing to try and solve gun crime in public places (giving teachers guns won't work. But you do need to teach them how to deal with armed intruders better). But in a private place? Let me deal with an armed intruder with my own gun. I don't want to wait for the police, for as history shows, they tend to arrive too late.

And the availability question again: Gun crime happens ALL THE TIME. By people who don't care about the laws, and only take advantage that their victims often can't defend themselves. Mental illness? Only happened ONCE.

Might as well ban people. That will stop crime.

Yes.

One metal goes nuts and kills children. OMG!!! BAN ALL GUNS!!!

What about the Mexican drug wars and all the children that kills? The African soldiers? What happened to those?

Yes, I really do think that this is blown insanely out of proportion.

Wow...

You do know there were seven mass shootings last year right? I knew someone killed in the Aurora one. Don't say it's blown out of proportion.

I'm done with this thread.

Seven mass killings? How many did they kill?

And how come people only reacted to one?

And yes, this thread needs to be locked.

If weapons aren't the problem, then why don't we allow civilians access to RPGs, M1 Abrams tanks, and AH-64 Apache heavy assault helicopters?

I want to know what it's like to shoot a heavy railgun without joining the military.

I'm so damn tired of the "guns don't kill people. People kill people". For every 10 good people there is one idiot. Here in Europe and over there in the US. Only diffence? 5000 miles apart, and no guns. This [censored] doesn't happen here. Geez I wonder why. Same creatures over here. Our history is a gazillion times more violent than yours.

But yeah, guns sell great in the US. Now they have become capitalist extremists who are willing to pay the blood of their countrymen. Or the freedom obsession of course. FREEDOM INCLUDES THE FREEDOM TO SHOOT LITTLE KIDS IN THE FACE!

Land of the free? Yeah, very free if you need a gun at night...

Once again, I'm not saying ban them. I'm just saying the situation is completely idiotic. Europe laughs at you, heck even Canada does.

That's just our culture.

"I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know [my trigger finger is] free. I won't forget the men [and women, and children] who died [unexpectedly im nass shootings as civilians] to give that right to me."

And I gladly stand up aiming at you and defend her [my gun] still today. Cause there ain't no doubt I love this [gun nutty] land. God bless my AK.
