Rescued a cat this evening....

Postby morning-star » December 23rd, 2012, 9:47 pm

This evening walking home a young cat came bounding up to me begging for attention. Her fur is mattered and she's horribly underweight. She had a flea collar on that was way too small, yet she still ran up to me purring and begging for love.

I took her home right away knowing I couldn't leave something so sweet in this state.

She's perked up a bit for being in the warm, and is really quite friendly.
BUT, she needs cleaning, probably needs shaving (very matted fur), needs its claws trimming, looks like it needs deworming, delousing, etc, as well as being quite malnourished and needing a lot of TLC.
It looks like its front-left-leg is hurt, and she really needs going to the vet.

But all of this costs money, so I'm here to ask if some of you would be willing to donate whatever you can spare to help this kitty back to health.

I figured lots of you on here would be a fan of cats being lion king is several movies based on magical big kittys :P

Every little helps. It's Christmas after all.

My partner made this photo of her: (and we'll take more over the next few days)

Good on you guys. This reminds me of "A Street Cat Named Bob" (Google it, it is heart warming). I may donate, in the near future but only if you are serious about this and have researched it. There is more to keeping a stray than many think.

last year we rescued an abandoned mother with her three 6 week old kittens, from a friend who had just moved in to his rental house and found them in the shed. His landlord wanted nothing to do with them and all the cat places where full, so we took them in.

We eventually re-homed them, but the kittens where semi-feral and it took us months and months to tame them, feed them up fle/wormed etc and then find them the right homes. The mother (known as Cadbuys) as taken in by one of our friends after the kittens where sorted, and is being spoilt with her loving home XD

rescuing them was costly but it was totaly worth it to see them fit, friendly and healthy.

the kittens a few weeks after we got them in September 2011:

I keep/have kept lots of various animals (right now I have 50 or so mice, four hamsters, eight snakes.....) XD and I'm looking into doing a veterinary nursing course in the new year.

Hah, them kitties got some crazy eyes...

But that's so sweet of you to take in the cat like that. Although my cat Smokey passed away recently, she showed up at our door and we took her in much the same as you did. Pets you take in like that will give you love like no others. If I had a paypal set up, I would donate to you. As it is, I can just send you some karmic goodwill. Merry Christmas indeed.

thank you. :D

I spoke to someone down the road she was on when I first picked her up and she was so grateful that someone had taken her in being, she'd called the local PDSA that was full and couldn't take on any more cats and she couldn't for fear of her dog attacking it, she was so happy just to see her be rescued it was really nice. :)

photo updates:

what the donations have help us with so far:
Image

(she's had a bad tummy and wont be getting any of those treats until thats gone)

we where suggested that kitten foods would be best to help her gain weight and get the much needed vits/minerals. She's on a 1/4 cup of food every 6 hours or so. only dried food for now until that tummies sorted and then we'll see about wet food.

better photos of the kitty, (nick named bones)
Image

my paw hurts :(

Image

helps show how skinny she is:
Image

plan on weighing her clipping those nails and then start on the de tangling tonight. followed buy cleaning/more grooming tomorrow along with worming and such.

she's litter trained at least but that paper wont be going until the runs do, in-case she doesn't make the tray in time.

thanks for all the donations so far!!

She had a trip to the emergency vets today when cleaning up the fur we found an inch long gash that needed urgent attention (far as we know it was an existing wound that re-bled when pulling/cleaning the fur/skin about) . They glued it up and gave her a shot of anti-botics, but advised we get her to a normal vet soon as we can she has a respiratory infection and her weight is a serious problem. (it cost £109! (being its Christmas day) (but we can pay that in instalments at least).

hop-fully we can book her in on the 27th.

Putting up some sort of charity action for this is kinda pointless. That cat is not yours and maybe even still has an owner, so the best thing you should do would be taking her to a shelter where they'll take care of her.
