I would say that he is a fascinating character but there is NOTHING that would make me sympathize with him. Look at Adolf Hitler whom Scar was based on. His mother died at an early age, he got rejected by an art school when it was his passion etc. We all know what happened next. Do you feel sympathy for that? I see Scar as a very complex character who was dealt a bad hand earlier in life. Instead of coping with it in a productive way, he chose to focus on his bitterness and pride in a (self) destructive way. Scar is definitely a psycholically complex villain in that there is more to him that the usual moustache twitching. What makes him scary (and fascinating) is that he is cognitive in his choices. Scar got dealt a bad hand earlier in his life. The difference between himself and others who got the shaft be it favoritism or whathaveyou is that Scar CHOSE to focus on the negative and use that as fuel to orchestrate his brother's assasination.
I don't sympathize with committing fratricide. I don't think anyone does here. One upping them, sure. I think we all do. LOL!
Death is a challenge. It tells us not to waste time… It tells us to tell each other right now that we love each other.
