45

Postby Regulus » October 31st, 2012, 7:54 pm

I found this a few weeks ago, while I was trying to get some screencaps to use. Surprisingly, I haven't found this little 'mistake' mentioned anywhere else.

In two frames, the number 45 appears in that scene, next to Simba's tail. I assume this was probably intended to mark one of the layers or frame numbers or something, and should have been erased. But it's there. :P

At full speed, all you can see is a small dark spot suddenly appearing for less than a tenth of a second, but now that I know it's there, I notice it every time.

Well thats certainly interesting, I'm going to have to look for this next time I watch the movie. Odd to think they would miss something like that with the kind of scrutiny you'd think they'd give the final cut. Admittedly the color of the number is barely noticeable.

Wow!

I have never noticed it, nor even knew about it. Yes, the number can mean a different number of things, but they all boil down to a reference number during the drawing of the scene, and one that would have normally been erased afterwards. Even though now I know where it is, I doubt I will ever notice it in the movie.

As for what Rogue said about scrutiny: while the Disney quality is superb, I admit, there are several much more noticeable mistakes in the movie (such as Simba's eyes changing color during the ghost scene) meaning that it's very likely that this '45' is just a simple mistake that no one noticed. Remember, The Lion King is a movie. Individual frames don't matter so much (as seen in the wide distortions of characters during action scenes). It's the final product that matters.

Oh my gosh. That's probably one of the most random mistakes I have ever seen in a movie. Next time I watch the movie, I'll try to catch that!

Awesome find! Never noticed it even though it's quite hard to see. I'll look out for it next time. ^^
