But none of the people who voted "no" said you, I, or anyone else was immoral. We are quick to call them immoral when really, let's be honest for a second here - we are just as immoral if not more so for condemning one who simply shares their views in a pretty respectful way.

Those views are acceptable up and until the point where they get in the way of the happiness and well-being of other conscious creatures. We condemn the unequal rights of women in the middle-east. We should condemn the unequal rights of homosexuals in the same moral sense.

It doesn't matter whether you are in prison for a day for stealing an apple, or 10 years for raping someone. Criminals do not deserve the right to vote. By disrespecting the law you disrespect the right to vote for them and thus don't deserve the right to vote.[/quote]

Is that not also an unequal right? Prisoners would be happier with the right to vote than not. And they meet the description you gave (concious creature). Yet it is okay to prevent them a right to something? I know the example is quite different but it serves to prove my point which is this; some think certain groups should not have certain rights and have perfectly valid reasons for that.

It does not. Because such a person has already crossed the borders of modern morality. Reward and punishment is a different sector of morality.

I was reading topics here and on another forum at the same time, so I guess someone there said it was immoral, and I didn't double check. I do not mean to condemn anyone who does in fact share their views in a respectful way. Even though I dislike their opinion, if they are respectful about it, I usually hold my tongue. However, I do know for a fact that one member did not state their opinion in a respectful way, and it's things like that that make me snap; I have been holding in that rant for quite some time, but I think I am quite through bashing people for it at present.

That kid is 13. That only proves the amount of indoctrination that is involved. Forcing biblical or quranic nonsense down their children's throats. If kids want to be religious, let them choose when they can. Forcing beliefs on kids is wrong. Most Christians are not Christian because they like Christianity so much. They are Christian because the emperor Constantine made Christianity the official religion of the Holy Roman Empire. If they were born in India they would be worshiping Krishna, if they were born in classical Greece they would be believing in Zeus, if they were born in Denmark in the time of the vikings they would be believing in Wodan and Thor, if they were born in central Africa they would be believing in the great joo-joo of the mountain. People have a certain religion by pure chance. I might have been Christian if I were brought up in another place at another time, or if I had had indoctrinating parents.

Children are very sensitive to this and once the damage is done it's almost irreversible. People are brought up Christian or Muslim or Hindu. They do not choose to be one. Less than 2% changes religion or actually has a free choice. Indoctrination is actually one of the only reasons it's still alive.

You shouldn't take it that seriously (I mean that in a personal matter). We should take it serious in global terms. Most of them don't know what they are talking about and have never read their holy scriptures critically. Modern civilization clashes with ancient beliefs and the product is a lot of moral confusion which actually harms society a lot.

My advice to you: Kill their ignorance with knowledge, reason and moral philosophy.

I do admit that I lost my temper and I was wrong to do so. I was having a bad day and had read enough ignorant statements elsewhere that I just posted exactly what I was thinking. I have calmed down now, and will do my best in the future to refrain from being so defensive and remain civil. With that, I have said my piece and will now leave this to the people who are better at these kinds of discussions, as I have nothing more to say on this matter anyway.

I'm very sorry, Juliette, that I offended you. I didn't know I was being offense and rude. I thought I was just stating my opinion and I didn't know I would offend people. So, sorry :D

Man, this is such a controversial topic, I'm honestly surprised this is allowed to be discussed here. But whatever, I personally don't have a problem with gays just because I believe it two people are in love, then why should they be criticized for their actions? However, I won't lie, I do find it a little repulsive and uncomfortable when there's a public display of affection between two gays.

And I believe what I want-believe me. I'm not one to have something shoved down my throat. I refuse to not be able to love a person who is not my race. I am damn well capable of making my own religious decisions-I believe what is most logical to ME. Not my parents, not my minister, ME. God is my God and Ill believe in him till I die.

Did you just say what I think you just said?

Second of all, you are 13. You are still in debt to your parents. Even if they taught you that [censored].
