Favorite/Least Favorite Scene

Oh! I'm so glad someone here loves the relationship between Kiara and Simba as much as I do! The song is very, very nice, the scenery is beautiful like you said and yeah, it has a great message to families, too.

And about Timon and the gun thing, earlier on in the movie he mentions getting a beeper for Kiara, and also calling for reservation, which are also some things he shouldn't really know about, but I always found it to be funny, I don't know...

Favorite scene: My favorite scene would be "We Are One". SimbaObsesser really touched on all the points on why I love that song. From an artistic perspective, the scenery was very beautiful and the animation on the backgrounds was well-drawn. Most of all, I just love the song's message about unity, family, and taking your place in life. My favorite lyric in the song is: Tears of joy / Tears of joy / One thing nothing can destroy / is our pride deep inside / We are one

Least favorite scene: My least favorite scene would be "Upendi". The song was okay, and I applaud it for trying to do something creative with the series by attempting to make a reggae-esque song, but the execution was poor. It's mostly due to the song being very cheesy, especially the animal congo line. In my opinion, it's a poor man's "Hakuna Matata" since that's the feeling I get after I hear the song is that Disney was trying to replicate its success with "Hakuna Matata" with "Upendi".

Cheesy? Ah, whatever, though I really, really, REALLY doubt that Disney was trying to replace Hakuna Matata with Upendi, though, that never crossed my mind how un-alike they were, so I really don't think that's what it was supposed to be like. Oh, and about it being all "too cartoonish" for the rest of the movie, it was supposed to be all fake like that, that was just Disney's --or Rafiki's-- way of describing the concept of love.

Favorite Scene: We Are One is a good scene for the reasons already mentioned. The Kiara/Kovu stargazing scene is also one of my favorites. I just love those moments like that which allow us to get a glimpse deep into the hearts of the characters. Unfortunately, it's all too brief before setting the stage for.....

Least Favorite Scene: Upendi. Not only do I think it's the least impressive song in the movie, I really dislike the way it is used in the plot. After the tantalizing setup of the aforementioned stargazing scene, having Kiara and Kovu more or less magically fall in love with help from Rafiki just seems really weak.

Okay, I do comprehend that Rafiki "transported" them into the world of "Upendi", but the execution is still weak. And if I don't like the word, "cheesy", then, the "Upendi" scene is just "campy" to me; the scene was just way too light-heartened for me.

Finally, about the 'Hakuna Matata" comparison, both song titles originate from Swahili words, and the songwriters for both films took the words, and wrote into a song with an upbeat tempo. In the context of films, the main characters for their respective film, Simba and Kiara, take those Swahili words, and apply to their situation; for Simba, live with no worrries and for Kiara, love Kovu. I would like to add it is visually similiar to "I Just Can't Wait to be King".

What make you assume 'campy' is any better? And that's just you, I'm sure there are allot more people who agree with you on that, but at least I can see that it's actually a good scene in the movie.

And? The words both being Swahili doesn't mean they were trying to make them like each other, and a song in the movie can't have an up-beat tempo without being Hakuna Matata? And actually the song was for both Kiara and Kovu. I don't mean to sound rude here, but geez, I'm so sick of people hating on everything that has a smallest little fault in it...

Favourite Scene: He lives in you
Sorry to say but I don't like TLK2 THAT much. It's decent compared to other Disney Sequels, and I remember when it was brand new and I got really excited to first see it. Now that I'm older, and my TLK super-fan-ism has returned in hurricane like fashion I just don't think it holds up to the original.
ANYWAY, I really REALLY love the opening. "He Lives in You" is a great song! I used to run around our house singing it.

Least Favourite Scene: Upendi.

I am so glad I'm not the only one who thinks that of the intro to the movie...
He Lives In You is my personal favorite Lion King song overall, and I like every Lion King song, too.

That scene just might be my favorite in the whole movie, it's like the beginning of a new age.
And Mufasa watches over every move the Pride makes, if you think about it, it's a really nice scene.

I also just like the fact that Simba had a daughter, and that Mufasa obviously has a grand-daugther.
I don't know why I like things like that, but overall, it's a great scene.

Favourite scenes: We Are One. I really, really love the song, and the dialogue between Simba and Kiara upon their return from the Outlands paints a very good picture of their relationship and adds depth to Kiara`s character (she says that she doesn`t want to be queen because of the huge responsibiity) and I personally love Kiara`s verse in the song because it shows how confliced she feels. Can she remain true to herself and her own character and still fulfill the role of leader to the pride?

I also enjoy the scene where Kiara and Kovu meet for the first time. And Love Will Find A Way is just amazing. So full of emotion... I love it.
I also adore the scene where they are stargazing.. Kovu`s lines are unforgettable.

Least favourite scenes: Upendi (I guess that goes without saying, lol) and I don`t care much for Not One Of Us either, mostly because pretty much every critter in the Pridelands showed up and ganged up on Kovu in order to chase him away. I feel weird about the otherwise mute and more naturalisticly drawn animals suddenly breaking into song.. I prefer it when the focus is on the lions, and everyone else just go about their business.
