With Sarabi leading the rescue of her mate, the others find him in the gorge, but Simba is lost for others to wonder where and why. With Scar pretending it wasn't his fault, and threatening to send his hyenas after an escaped prince, Mufasa keeps quiet for the sake of his son's life.

Injured and hurt, Mufasa pleads for some of his lionesses to go and find his son and a medicine from Rafiki's distant cousins. He sends Sethunya (OC; mine) and a group of others to go on this mission.

Mhina frowned as Nala approached him. She was breathing hard and panting heavily,"Come. Quickly." Mhina's frown deepened,"Why?" Nala pranced unpatiently,"Sarabi told me to get you-Hurry!"
Mhina hurried after Nala as she lead him towards Pride Rock, which was looming in the distance. By time they had neared the waterhole, Nala looked as she was about to faint. Mhina slowed so she could follow him relatively easily,"C'mon, we are almost there."
Nala obediently followed him as he now led her up towards the den. He remembered the way so well even though he hadn't been there since he
was a small cub. He sighted Sarabi at the tip of pride and stepped forward, fling his lungs with a deep breath.

Sethunya perked her head, as did Kianga. When they had seen the young Nala, frantic and out of breath, they knew she was bearing some bad news; something she was very upset about as well. With Seth's ears perked, she watched as Nala scurried off with Mhina at her heels.

Looking back at the orange male, Seth got to her paws. "C'mon, Kianga." She told him. Quickly, the male gathered himself up and started to follow after the other two. Running behind them, Sethunya and Kianga caught up and came to a stop when they did.

There stood Sarabi, the great queen looking as though she was the lowest rogue with a crime committed to the King. Sethunya could feel her heart starting to leap into her throat, as she looked at Kianga and saw him looking unsure of himself as well. Though he didn't speak, he wore his heart in his eyes most of the time.

What is going on? Where's Mufasa? Where's Simba?, Sethunya thought.

Chernobyl watched as the Nala started to cause panic in the lions. Tilting her head to the side she stood up and stretched, and padded softly over. Looking at the assembled lionesses she yawned wondering where her brothers were. With a smile she looked at the cub, remembering when she acted like that with her brothers. Then she looked at Sarabi, seeing her upset, she walked over and nuzzled her. "What's wrong Sarabi?" She asked as she sat down next to her.

Mhina shifted uncomfortably as several lions and lionesses inspected him. He tossed a pleading look and Nala who shrugged and walked forward. "Um, why is almost everyone looking at me?" Mhinas tone was quiet and nervous. Nala rolled her eyes,"No one has ever seen you." He growled irritatedly and followed Nala towards Sarabi, looking at the ground. He reddened as he felt more eyes upon him as he approached Sarabi. "Your highness." He bowed deeply and kept his voice smooth.

Shivah had seen all the lion start to gravitate to where Sarabi was, nearly all of them following Nala. She sighed. Another drama? she thought, Probably something blown out of proportion. But then she smelt blood. She had an extremely good nose, and was surprised at this occurrence. Then she heard Sarabi's worried voice, more obvious than the others. She decided to go as see what was happening. She scurried over to the group, and asked the queen 'Whats going on?'. She knew she would get a straight answer from the queen, but she also knew she was traumatised about something. She wasn't surprised when she didn't reply. Her mind was on something else. She turned to Nala.
'Will you please tell me what is going on?' Her voice rising. With no reply, she just grunted and decided to stick around to find out herself.

Nala gave Shivah a scared worried look, her pale blue eyes wide and fearful,"I don't know. Sarabi told me to find." She faltered,"To find someone." She cast a nervous glance at Mhina, nobody had questioned her of Sarafina about him, but she wasn't sure if it was safe to reveal him to the others. She sighed heavily, she hated waiting. She was more patient than Simba, but only when he was there. Then a thought struck fear deep within her, what if all of the clamor was about Simba? What if he was hurt? Or...worse. She couldn't bring herself to face the reality that the latter option may be true.

[Temporary Sarabi]

The feeling of something terribly wrong was itching at her. Sarabi could barely recognize all the feelings of insecurity beneath her, as she stared out at the plains. She neglected the sights of the eyes glued to her, and only focused ahead of her. Her brows were furrowed and her jaw dropped. She didn't like this at all.

Finally, after what seemed like hours of standing still as a statue, the queen walked down the structured steps and trotted, soon breaking into a gallop towards the gorge. "Lionesses, follow me please." She shouted over her shoulder, not stopping to wait for them to catch up to her.

Racing across the grass and down to the steep ledges of the dry caverns, Sarabi followed her nose to the smell of her mate. It worried her far greater than before when she could smell him... Sure enough, her worst fears were confirmed when she noticed the large form of Mufasa, draped over the ground sluggishly. He didn't even sleep that way.

"Mufasa!" The queen felt instant hot tears fall from eyes to cheeks and to the ground as she sped up to be at his side. The queen's bright orbs, shimmering from the sun outlining the water in them, scanned over her mate. He had his eyes closed so peacefully, yet what kind of peaceful death was to befall someone in the gorge? His usually well managed whiskers were skewed. "No...," She sucked in a breath to keep her from passing out, her tears falling plentifully now. "You can't be dead. You just... you can't be dead. My Mufasa," Sarabi bent herself down to lean against his form. She tried to imagine when they would sleep, side by side, happily absorbing the others' heat. Sarabi placed her face into his mane, letting it soak up her tears and her nose soaking up his smell, her paw on his cheek.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Wait! Bibi!" Sethunya referred to the queen by her nickname, chasing after her. In her chase, she knew she wasn't the only one following quickly as Seth heard multiple other lionesses coming with her. Sarabi was far faster than Sethunya and so the younger lioness had a hard time keeping up-- and the hair tuft on her head didn't help much either, blocking her eyes.

When Sethunya followed the same path as the queen did, she could notice the queen's sudden loss in confidence as she usually had.

"Mufasa!" Sarabi's voice was clear with emotions, and so Seth couldn't help but follow behind to see what the queen was so upset about. But she found out when she rounded the corner. There, her once proud and youthful king, looked to be facing the fate of an old man who had an unlucky turn for the worst. She wanted so badly to hug the queen and say her "good bye."s to the king, but she knew it was time for Sarabi to have her final farewells. Backing up, back to the corner of the gorge, she hoped the others who followed would show the same respect to the queen as she was.

Nala nuzzled her mothers legs, rubbing the tears of her small face. Sarafina bent down and licked Nala on the head. Nala winced as a tear dripped onto her forehead. She backed up and shuffled behind her mother as she led her away from Sarabi and Mufasas corpse. Nala hung her head sadly; Simba had yet to be spoken of. She gave Mhina a sad, hopeless look as she past him.
***************
Mhina hated to see his sister and mother cry, but he hated the reason they were crying more. Their leader had joined the kings of past in the heavens. And he was to take the throne as Simba was too young, but Scar was a threat. Mhina hated to admit it, but the elderly lion was definitely his match. And even though the lionesses needed him, he needed to get far away from everyone. He sighed, something needed to happen.

Hiroshima ran over to the group of lionesses and grinned as he nudged next to his sister. "Hey, what's going on?" He asked. Then seeing her tears he looked around. "What's wrong?" he asked.
Chernobyl sighed and looked at her brother. "It's.... It's Mufasa. He's... dead." she whispered, her voice breaking on the last part.
