Chapter 3
The people of Port Royal gathered around a wooden flat-form, unaware of why they were called. To blend in, Captain Thomas and Josiah joined the gathering of the people. The soft sound of marching quickly got louder and louder with every step they heard, as well as the soft clanging of the chains. It was the hanging of the pirates caught in the recent bombing of the dock of Port Royal. Captain Thomas felt strange; as he saw the crew he once had, enter his vision. He glanced at Josiah, and signalled for him to leave. As they turned around, they noticed the guards keeping the people around the wooden flat-form.
A man in a black facemask, and another man in Sub-Lieutenant uniform were now on the flat-form when the two turned back around. Captain Thomas, though he didn’t want to watch this, didn’t want to die. Better them than him, as he was Captain and they would have to do anything to keep him safe.
The first group of Pirate-Accused prisoners walked up onto the flat-form, hanging their head towards the ground, as the man in the mask placed the rope around their necks. The other man stood forward and cleared his throat.
“Thou individuals are to be prosecuted under thou following criminal acts; Piracy, murder, theft, and harassment!” As the man finished the short speech, he signaled the other man to pull the lever. The bodies fell and most quickly died, while one hung struggling to breath, then quickly died. It was such a horrible way to die in front of the very people who accused you.
This went on for a very long period of time before the last group, some of Captain Thomas’ crew, arrived on the flat-form. The Captain swallowed the fear in his throat, and hung his head low. He hoped none of the prisoners would recognize his face.
“Thou individuals are to be prosecuted under thou following criminal acts; Piracy, murder, theft, harassment, and refusal to speak!” Again, the man finished and he signaled the man in the black facemask to pull the lever. All of the men died quickly, which seemed to be a bore to the people, but a relief to Captain Thomas. Again, he thought ‘Better them than me’.
The guards left, and the people started to scatter back home or to their shops. Captain Thomas and Josiah slowly walked towards the docks, not saying a single word to each other. Josiah had many questions about his mission but left them to sting his mind, rather to anger Thomas by asking.
Arriving at the docks, Josiah saw no signs of a pirate ship and in confusion he turned towards Thomas. “Where is your ship? You’re a pirate! You should have a ship!” Though not angry, he still raised his voice.
“D’ya’ really think d’bring m’ship t’dock? Th’catch m’in seconds!” Thomas answered, while walking up towards a paddleboat. “W’take tis beauty.” Sarcastically saying to Josiah, then laughing.
With a very violent sigh, Josiah threw his bag in the boat and then stepped in himself. “Where is your boat?” Asking before he sat down, looking over the horizon for any dark figures.
“S’round t’corner of t’cliff.” Thomas answered Josiah as he grabbed the paddles and left the dock. They got weird stares, and laughs by the people of Port Royal. Thomas ignored it, for his own safety of getting angry and attacking Port Royal once again.
Josiah looked over Thomas’ shoulder and saw the large cliff, estimating just how much time it would take to get there. It would be, a very long time. He sat back and lowered his hood to hide the sun, and his face from any witnesses of his crimes. He closed his eyes for only a few moments, before the soothing rocking of the boat put him to sleep.

Josiah felt something hit him, and he awoke with a startle. “What’s going on?” He stood up quickly, and checking his surroundings. They were around the cliff, beside the boat and still in broad daylight.
“W’here.” Captain Thomas said as a ladder was thrown down to the two. He left Josiah behind and climbed the side of the ship. Josiah just watched as Thomas climbed, waiting to finally see what awaited him. “C’mon!” Thomas yelled down, and then gave Josiah room to climb. He threw his bag over his shoulder, and started climbing the ladder up the ship.
Once he was finally up, he saw Thomas’ ship for the first time. Though it was clean and well managed, it still looked unappealing to the eye with holes in the floor and broken rails around the ship. The sail had some holes in it, but still managed to pull the boat.
“Ov’here. Ya’chambers.” Josiah quickly looked over to the speaker, who held open, a glass door for him, which revealed a beautiful room. He walked over, thanked the man, and entered his room. It was gorgeous compared to the rest of the ship. His bed had silk covers and the cupboards were filled with rum and golden mugs.
He heard someone clear his throat, and Josiah quickly turned around. While startled, he let his hidden blade come out, and held it up to the man who owned the noise. Before he knew it, he was looking straight into the eyes of Captain Thomas.
“I’m sorry. You startled me. Don’t do that.” Saying while lowering the weapon and hiding it once again. Josiah took a small step away from Thomas, smiling awkwardly at him. “It’s a very lovely place you have here.” He said, while raising his eyebrows and looking around the room. Slowly, he picked up a golden mug, and eyed the magnificent jewels engraved into the sides.
“Don’t b’getting’ used t’it. You b’leavin’” Thomas spat in the large vase then left the room, slamming the large door behind him. Many of the loose items in the room shook and fell from their spots by the impact.
Josiah pondered his words, wondering where this man would be taking him. If he wasn’t staying, than where was he going? He sat on the silk bed sheets and looked at his bag. Obviously he hired an assassin for a reason, but for what reason? Did someone need killing? Wherever they were going, it had to be good.

Chapter 4
Allis had been excited for days; the Captain prepared the female pirate and had given her a map to work with. She studied the route as well the map she had been carrying for the past days. Only recently had she learned that a young man would accompany her on the trip, from other Captain’s ship. Allis had yet to meet the man, she didn’t even know his name. Hell, no one did.
They had been at St. Martins beach for three days, waiting for Captain Thomas to arrive with his crew. They ate the fish and animals they caught and cooked by themselves, as food had been running low and some hadn’t eaten in days. Though the rum always remained full. Allis only ate small meals, and saved her stomach for the trip, as she did not want to slow them down.
In the distance, Allis could see a dark, shaded dot. She stumbled towards the Captain and smiled. “Tis ya friend’n t’distance?” She asked, pointing at the black dot and shading her eyes with her hand. “Only ship seen all day.” Staring at the Captain for an answer, eager to leave the beach and start venturing.
“I think ya might b’correct.” The Captain said, while walking towards the water to get a better look. Only a few moments went by before he turned around, “Ya b’right, m’dear!” He laughed loudly, stepping towards her and throwing his heavy arm around her.
Allis shrugged his arm off and left his presence to fetch her things. Only carrying a small satchel and a bag of goods. A gun was given to her recently, and she hung it around her waist. The bullets and ammo were packed into her satchel, with the map and a few other weapons.
They could never be too sure what stalked through the large trees on St. Martins Island. The land was rarely ever explored. Those who dared came out with stories of amazing creatures, and much death. Many never came out of the large rainforest on St. Martins. Which terrified the young pirate who was about to travel these lands with a stranger.

After much waiting, Captain Thomas’ ship and crew were on the beach tending to their ship. Thomas and Josiah weren’t to far away from the ship, watching the men do their job. Right on cue, Thomas noticed his brother standing beside Allis and started walking towards them, Josiah in tow.
“If t’ain’t my old friend, Edward!” Thomas said, wrapping his arms around Edward and smiling. “I b’waiting t’finally see ya.” Saying as he pat his friend on the back and released him from his grasp.
“Captain Edward at ya’service!” The Captain said as he chuckled at Thomas. “Tis b’Allis. She’s m’best.” Looking down at the 5’2” lady with silver eyes. She smiled and then lowered her head to continue looking at Captain Thomas.
“Tis Josiah. He be m’best as well.” Thomas turned to Josiah and winked, letting Josiah in on the fib. In return, Josiah nodded and looked to the short girl he’d be working with. Small but mighty, he thought while holding in a chuckle. Though, one thing he just recently noticed about her is that her eyes sparkled in the sunlight. Not many eyes he’d seen have done that, only when they plead for him to spare their lives. Realizing he was staring; he quickly turned away in embarrassment, feeling his cheeks grow warm.
Allis simply smiled at Josiah, and tucked part of her hair behind her ears. “Mind tellin’ us, what we be doin’?” She turned to her Captain and stared at his with one eyebrow raised. The young lady crossed her arms and continued looking up.
“Yes, please tell us, what is going on.” Josiah stepped forwards and he too looked at Captain Edward, making sure he seemed imitating and scarier. Only to get the answers he’d been waiting for.
Both Captain Edward and Captain Thomas sighed. “Well, w’be sendin’ ya t’fetch us treasure. In t’middle of t’island. Allis here be studyin’ t’map f’days, it cuts off when ya get t’the cave. B’careful mates.” Captain Edward said carefully, and then placed a hand softly on Allis’ shoulder. “Good luck.” He whispered to her before walking away, almost signaling Thomas.
“Ship’ll rest here. ‘Till ya come back.” Thomas’ raspy voice sung before he pushed past both Allis and dragged Josiah to the side. They were far enough that Allis would not hear what was being said. “Ya keep yar identity safe. Don’t tell’er who ya’re. Ya’re a [censored]’ pirate, not an assassin.” Thomas said, with anger in his voice, while he held his finger up to Josiah’s face.
“I know. I guessed that when you said I was your best crewmember, and; don’t put your fingers in my face.” Josiah said sternly, moving Thomas’ finger from his view. He was much taller than Thomas, and Thomas knew who he was; Josiah was not one to be messed with.
With a huff, Thomas stomped away, leaving large footprints in the sand. “Get goin’!” Thomas yelled, then disappeared up into his [censored] ship. Loud banging noises could be heard on board, as was screaming.
Josiah only chuckled then slowly walked towards Allis, putting his hand in the deep pockets on his sides. The sand on the small beach didn’t seem to move when he walked. His feet glided with the sand, and the water covered his noise. He kept his hood on and never dared to take it off, his identity stayed safer that way.
“Hot head eh?” Allis giggled, and walked towards Josiah in unison with his steps. She was much louder than him though; her footprints were left as well. Allis’ long strawberry-blonde hair waved as she waltzed towards him.
“Of course. You get used to it though.” Josiah chuckled as they closed the gap between them; he smiled flirtatiously at Allis, and stopped right in front of her. The height difference made him laugh, and she glared at him. They didn’t speak; they just stood there, speechless. Both of them were robbed of words, as this was a very awkward first meeting.
“I’m Allis. Allis Waaters.” She broke the silence and held out her hand. Only she attempted to make any meeting less awkward.
“And I am Josiah Brenton.” He brought up his large hands and shaking her small hands firmly. Surprisingly, she had a very firm handshake, for a girl so small. He stared at her, and he smiled. “What a lovely name. Ms. Allis.” He bent down, and kissed her small hand.
