But yeah, gun control won't work. Maybe in this incident it would have been best if he didn't have a gun, but what other arguments are you trying to say? The age old one that it reduces crime? Criminals don't obey the law. If they can get cocaine, which is illegal, they can get guns, if they were ever outlawed. Although, try to get Americans to surrender their firearms lol. I don't want to end up sounding like wolfish in the Election thread, but Americans having guns, isn't really your concern lol. I mean, you can most certainly discuss opinions about it, but at the end of the day, the average Netherlander (?) isn't affected.

Well, I am english and I think having a gun is perfectly fine- just as long as you have a licence to own one. It's just for self-defense in my opinion, if not collecting firearms lol x3 I agree that going for a "kill" shot was a very bad move; even if it had been a burgler, no need to actually kill 'em! A bang to the leg would do to injure him and then call the police if you ask me. I think it was just the father's mistake... he is human after all =P

Well there just a trend. Over all developed countries (all of Europe, the US and Canada). Germany has the 2nd most deaths by guns, which is 347. The US is first with....9369 people...
I am not saying ban them, but this is the price you pay. It is after all way too late to ban them

Can't take away the fact that a gun makes murder, for any reason, really easy. Why do you have drug wars and we don't? canada doesnt, however, guns are legal in Canada. I just do not understand why you have them.

Canada doesn't share several thousand miles of border with Mexico. I think this should give you enough of a reason. (if you think gun deaths in the USA are bad, look at Mexico)

Alright,fair point. However, I do not consider Mexico a developed country? Of all developed countries, you are the only one with so many deaths. Why?

I think I can safely say that all those 9000 murders were not all/largely committed by mexicans. In Europe you guys are viewed as "be afraid of thy neighbor" and not "love thy neighbor". There must be some kind of fear involved. Protect youself against people with guns who have guns to protect themselves against people with guns who have guns to protect themselves against people with guns etc.

Alright, but we can agree that guns are built to kill, right? I am not affected by your laws, but there needs to come something to get those deathrates down.
