Nightwish

Nightwish

Postby JaguarOne » October 6th, 2009, 6:36 am

Alright, there have gotta be SOME Nightwish fans out there. For those of you who don't know who Nightwish is it's a symphonic metal band from Kitee, Finland who paved the way for many symphonic metal bands we know of today.

Alright what's everybody's favourite songs? I can't really decide because all their songs are so great, but I love "End of All Hope," "Wishmaster," "Ghost Love Score," and "The Poet and the Pendulum."

Currently they're still my favorite band. They've been my favorite for at least 3 months now, which is reaching Breaking Benjamin's record of 4 months. (My favorite band changes a lot :innocent: ) I've only tapped into three of their CDs, Century Child, Dark Passion Play and Oceanborn. I want to get "Once" next. Nightwish is incredibly awesome.

Everyone has heard "End of All Hope", I'd bet. But my favorite song is still "Bless the Child" from Century Child. From there, I also like "Ever Dream", "The Poet and the Pendulum", "Beauty of the Beast" and "Amaranth". I also like all of their slower songs such as "Forever Yours" and "Eva". I'm also a fan of "Whoever Brings The Night". Century Child is the only album where I rated all its songs as 5 stars. It is simply a masterpiece in symphonic metal and music in general.

Do you like Tarja or their new singer better?

I LOVE the misheard lyrics, they're so hilarous. Yeah I saw them live when they were touring Dark Passion Play in the United States. I waited for two hours in the rain in Baltimore to get into Sonar so I could see them. General admission rocks, it got me the LAST front row spot. I dropped my earplugs on the floor which meant I was pretty much deaf for two or three days afterwards, but it was definitely worth it.

As for the singer? I like them both equally. I think that they both have their strengths and weaknesses, but in the end it's really that they seem to enjoy singing their songs.

As for albums, the first one I got was "Once" because the first ever Nightwish song I heard was "Ghost Love Score" and then "Dark Chest of Wonders," "Planet Hell," and "Creek Mary's Blood." Miko, you should definitely get "Once." The songs can rank right up there with "The Poet and the Pendulum" and "Century Child" when it comes to the authentic symphonic metal sound.

As for favourite bands, mine seems to change every few years, but I don't see Nightwish and Sonata Arcitca going anywhere out of my favourites any time soon.

Okay, so what was the first Nightwish song everybody listened to? Mine was actually "Ghost Love Score" live from the End of an Era soundtrack.

Mine was Planet Hell lol, that one's still synonymous in my mind with the band, because I've herd only a few other songs so far.

Those are both awesome songs!

Light the fires! Feast!
Chase the ghosts! Give in!
Take the roads less travelled by
In the city of fools!
Turn every poet loose!

Has to be my most favourite part of "Seven Days to the Wolves." As for "Planet Hell" it'd have to be this:

The first rock thrown again,
Welcome to hell little saint!
Mother Gaia in slaughter,
Welcome to paradise soldier!
