yeah, cats only land on their feet when they are able to use their tail to spin around in the air. Mufasa already got hit by a wildebeest or so, so I'd say he wasn't in the best condition to be twisting in the air.
plus, my cat Elvis fell off the porch onto his side when he was little and saw snow for the first time. he tried to catch a snowflake and didn't pay attention to where he was going lol. so if it's a fall they're unprepared for or if they can't think quick enough about what to do, they're not going to land on their feet unless they're REALLY lucky.
