Lion King 4 Petition

Understood. Hope can never die. You all hope that the Lion King 4 will be announced, and I hope that it won't be. It's just what you want to happen. But I'm just left wondering, are we really fans if we continue to pester the animators to continue a franchise that they really don't want to continue? Every movie produced is a new world of fandom created. But when the creators constantly put out new updates, on the fan's demand, then not only does it seem to lose its charm, but it also leaves little to no room for a little creativity of our own on that part. And by continuously bothering the creators to make new things, we seem to turn from fans into whiny little kids.

Don't get me wrong, I would go see the new Lion King 4 movie if it was announced, but the thing is, the creators aren't going to decide to make a new Lion King movie because a popular website makes a petition with a few usernames to hold it up. They are would make one if they truly wanted to continue the story in their hearts. That's the only thing that would produce a good movie, if they really really wanted to make it.

And a little side note, I don't think you're biased. it's your opinion and I respect that. But You cannot deny that Tangled rekindled that old Disney spirit that was nearly forgotten for the sake of having children laugh at the movies.

Yeah not really, I mean just because fans demand a new release that does not mean they have to rush it and not have any real control over it, if they do then it just proves that they are only in it for the money. Look at Toy Story 3, fans wanted a sequel... They got it, 8+ years later but it was really good. Not like TLK 1.5, which is clearly much less polished than the previous TLK films.

No. That was the classic Disney, the modern day Disney would make the film in a heartbeat if it was guaranteed to make a lot of money. Which applies to just about anything, from a new album from a band, videogame or anything else like that, it gets made and you just have to hope that people love it and it gets blown out of proportion, which a Lion King film... 17 years after the original is just not likely to do.

I seriously hope a 4th never gets released. Let it be, a trilogy is good enough. They've closed down shop with hand-animated films, and I do not want a digital lion king. I would recommend just leaving it be...

It doesn't surprise me that this topic exists on MLK.

Making a Lion King 4 in today's day and age in my opinion, would not be a good idea. The first LK movie came out back in 1994 which was almost 20 years ago. Times have changed. It's now 2012. And Disney itself, has changed a lot through these last 18 years and not all for the better. So if they were to go ahead and bring out a TLK 4 now or in the next few years, who knows what kind of results it would yield. It's a significant enough risk to be taken.

All in all, I'm satisfied with the current TLK movie franchise. Three runs is satisfyingly enough. And I agree that everything of The Lion King, as it is known today, isn't going to go down anytime soon. Disney has been doing it's job to keep it alive as of now with the first movie back in theaters just last year, than the Blu-Ray release of the movies, and so on. Because they know TLK is that kind of media that stands out in a crowd.

I may consider signing the petition later on. But that's completely up in the air right now for me.

:D I just signed the petition, and I really want another movie! If they did make another movie, it would prob. be bout Kopa. If that's the case, I think it should show his story of why he wasn't in TLK2 and he also comes back(returns) to Priderock.

But if we got the film we'd all be moaning about how it's not good enough because it just simply would not be good enough. High expectations that wouldn't be met; especially if they animated the lions as oddly as they are in TLK3 and Morning Report. Would be very sceptical about it however nice it would be to see something like Mufasa and Scar's backstory or so. I also would not like to see the Simba of the original suddenly so old or dead if they went down that route. :/ He's the star, 'living', I want it kept that way.

I'm not sure about the likelihood of Disney even looking at it and believing that 30,000 or whatever signings would get a forth.

Sorry! Don't mean to downer this petition, is just my sceptical opinion. :3

I fully agree with what you said above. Hence, the reason why I wrote that it wouldn't be a good idea to make a TLK 4 today. I don't believe there's any way it would 100% satisfy anyone if it's made.

I really wonder how he'd look being old..

Yeah. I don't know the actual reasoning behind the petition and that it would actually get us a TLK 4. But I personally think this is just a way for Disney to keep LK fans upbeat and off their back.

Need a fourth. Now that Disney owns Star Wars, a crossover with Mufasa and Darth Vader needs to happen.
